then they took the IT jobs and I didn't complain because I wasn't in IT and it meant that US companies could have beefier bottom lines (Go Stocks)
then they took the teleservice jobs and I didn't complain because I wasn't in teleservice and I almost never need customer service
then they took the medical tech jobs and I didn't complain because I wasn't in medical tech and I'm actually semi-adverse to all the medical testing to boost the HMO's bottom lines

So corporate profits are looking fine and there are lots of cheap foreign goods to buy.
But More than 15% of my fellow citizens are un/under employed, but those really cheap electronics made it all worthwhile.

I think a line something like "then they busted the unions, but I didn't complain because... " would be a good addition.

Back in the 60s, one worker with a union job and a high school education could be the family's ONLY worker and support a spouse and 4 or 5 kids (or more) AND be able to afford to buy a house.
I know this, because all of my uncles did it. (my dad had more education, eventually, but he bought a house at the age of 24 or so when he had two kids,was going to night school to earn a college degree, and was the sole wage earner.)

Then they took the medical tech jobs and I didn't complain because I wasn't in medical tech and I think too many people have too many medical tests.

Then they told us we needed to go to India to get surgery and I didn't complain because I didn't need surgery and my medical insurance premiums were lower,

But more than 15% of my fellow citizens are un/under employed and the US Chamber of Commerce is telling my children to move overseas for career opportunities.

Those cheap electronics weren't so cheap after all.

You're right - because those who weren't affected didn't speak up at the beginning of this, it just went farther and farther. Sad to watch, over the years. It didn't have to happen. But people wouldn't listen, or care.

It still applies - to the foreclosure crisis. There will be NO RECOVERY unless and until that is stopped, and the underlying crime addressed in a legal way.

But those who aren't affected (yet) are more interested in debt propaganda. Their jobs will be next. And on it goes.

Corporations aren't hiring because there is NO DEMAND - from consumers. It has nothing to do with taxes.

And the Fed's QE2 won't do anything to encourage lending because banks have blackballed half the country out of the credit market completely, and the other half with perfect credit can't refi their homes because they negative equity. Then the few left who don't own a home now but would've bought one, won't do it because the prices are still falling. So more jobs are lost, and repeat the cycle.

No housing market = no consumption = no jobs. And nothing done about it - because that would mean programs for people and not corporations.

and corporate criminals to add to it?
