What Colorado DIDN'T do
A lot of people, although not enough of them, thought that Tom Tancredo was suited for the governor's office. Barely enough people voted for the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Maes, to keep that party out of minor status. A candidate in one of the races for the state legislature openly solicited lobbyists for "donations" to ensure access to him (otherwise known as bribes); remarkably, he got enough votes that the race has not yet closed while provisional ballots are counted. Our excellent treasurer was ousted in favor of George Bush's cousin. Our secretary of state was replaced by a GOP elections lawyer with a very checkered history. One of our congressional representatives was replaced by a guy who, while in the state legislature, tried to pass a law that would tax the wind on your property. An eminently qualified and highly experienced candidate for university regent lost to an opponent with no college education. A sheriff was retained who helped a somewhat notorious DA to break the law by confiscating and snooping through a couple thousand tax returns. However...

That DA will stay home because the voters in Colorado DID NOT choose Ken Buck for the senate.

You're welcome.

1. We also did not give the RW fundies momentum by passing
an initiative to define birth at conception (which would have undoubtedly been the impetus to start outlawing birth control and criminalize abortion doctors and their patients), nor did we pass a series of regressive anti-tax measures that would have devastated schools and public services, nor one that would have effectively destroyed HCR in this state.

We brought a sane fiscal conservative Democrat to the governor's office, popular Denver mayor with experience in governance. And, while I would have preferred Romanoff, we at least fought back the crazy teabagger to return Democrat Bennett to the Senate.

2. I, too, would have preferred Romanoff.
But it could have been a lot worse. My hubby lost his mail-in ballot and didn't think he could vote. I talked him into going to our polling place and telling the judges his situation. They gave him a "replacement" ballot. I'm not sure if it is considered provisional or not, but we are both glad he went.

5. I think it ended up 78% no 22% yes..
We really kicked ass this year. Colorado is officially no longer a Red State. Now if we could just pick up Colorado Springs and put it in Texas where it belongs...

6. Just load up the fundies and teabaggers in those Texas RVs
We can get rid of both problems clogging the roads, our politics and our sanity... (The area is too beautiful to cede)

7. The Republicans do seem to have taken control of the state House
by one seat.
