Everyone has a role in Arlington school's music video
Everyone has a role in Arlington school's music video

ARLINGTON — A school in Arlington is doing something that's never been done in our area — at least not like this.

Martin High is one of the biggest schools in Texas. Students told administrators that there was no sense of community or family, and that can be a serious problem.

The solution they came up with is a blast — what they hope will be the world's largest "lip dub" video.

It was shot Thursday with one camera in a single take and features 20 students dancing through the hallways of the massive campus while lip-synching to pre-recorded music — but with every one of their 3,400 classmates playing a part.

3. Yeah, it's a neat idea
And also by building a sense of community you also are initiating an anti-bullying at the same time. If you identify with each other it's harder to bully.

Plus, I'll admit I have a bit of a soft spot for Martin HS, I did graduate from there. :)

13. Most of the people lip synching in this video are walking backwards
Aren't they? The camera crew is walking towards them. The rules are the camera has to take the whole video in one shot, no cuts in the video. They of course can sync the music. It takes a tremendous amount of planning, cooperation and creativity.

The neat thing about this video is that every member of the school took part. Way to be inclusive Martin!!

6. it was a video contest between 2 schools in the Seattle area
the challenger made a video "backwards," meaning all of the dancers, performers, walked, danced, even sang backwards. The kid in charge of their entry spent a lot of time listening to the song in reverse & wrote the backwards lyrics phonetically, then taught them to his friends. Both videos, btw, are very cool

9. That was neat.
I bet the kids had a blast doing it. I'll bet it took a while to clean up after it, but I'm guessing that was part of the fun.
