Poll question: Imagine this hypothetical situation: tougher anti-noise laws are being enacted.
And the people who are leading this crackdown start saying that noisemakers are "stealing silence" from folks who want peace and quiet.

A law is passed with some fanfare, and is officially called the "Stopping Silence Theft Act".

Does that make people who make noise in violation of the law actual thieves?

1. Not thieving, but auditory assault.
And if they use some object, machine, or instrument of some kind to do it, that would be armed auditory assault.

I enjoy peace and quiet and see noise-making as more of an assault on my ears (figuratively) than a theft.
