MIXED ANIMAL is on the loose again . . .
Mods---if you think this should be in the Lounge only,
no problem. I just wanted anybody who might not see it
over there to maybe see it here.

----------------------

I've withdrawn my novel MIXED ANIMAL from MacAdam/Cage
& ended my association with that publishing house.

The action speaks for itself, the decision was a long time
in coming, I could not be more certain that it is the right
thing to do for my book, my writing, and my spirit,
and I am at utter peace with it.

So, MIXED ANIMAL is on the prowl again for a (healthy) publisher.

I won't go into details here on the many reasons behind this
decision about Mixed Animal and MacAdam/Cage, except to say
that, in life as in fiction, all is not what it seems.

As I move on and seek what I believe I desire in this world,
I understand more clearly that the purpose is not the achievement
of desire, but what is gathered along the way.

Wisdom is less thrilling but more important than getting
a book published. And wisdom only comes from going
through the grinder of adverse experience.

Does that mean I am beyond wanting to get my book published?
Oh hell no.

I just finished & submitted a long short story I love,
the first short story I've written in many moons,
& I'll now hurl myself headlong, lock stock & barrel
back into my ghost novel.

I want to be happy today and to treat myself and the people
in my life with respect and not let what I want get in the
way of what is good for me.

P.S. The Mixed Animal, born Oscar, is also on the hunt
for a new name again.

1. So sorry about the issue with McAdam/Gage, but here's to yours (and dear Oscar's)
further efforts!

6. Actually, I do compare him to Mussolini at one point.
Not his politics, but the way he struts around
on the balcony.

8. I wasn't here for that
but when I first read the thread it was like new to me. Just like some in the thread, I thought you may have been serious at first but it became clearer after that. A barkolator?

Which is why I was the 2nd recommend.

11. The Animal Formerly Known as Oscar undoubtedly has mysterious ways
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 11:50 AM by lumberjack_jeff
Oscar will find his way. I don't wonder about him. I don't wonder about you.

... although I do sometimes wonder about me.

:hi:

(In all seriousness, that thread was about the best piece of creative writing I've ever seen. And I've read a lot of Chilton's manuals.)

I am not saying that. BUT ...
I printed out your sig line from Voltaire
in BIG PRINT 72 POINT because I wanted to
think about it, and I put it on the coffee
table my computer's on, and I left the room for an
errand, and came back, and Oscar was up in my
rocking chair in front of my computer and he
had a paw on the page that was on the coffee
table and he was -- APPEARED to be looking
at the words on the page -- and then he looked
up at me with an odd combination of bemusement
and trepidation, and then he looked at the quote
again, and wrinkled his eyebrows, and then he
went straight up to the attic to resume work
on his project. That's all I'm saying.

17. You know, that Voltaire quote, missing now from the original thread,
was just featured in an OP in GD yesterday:

I also love the "wonder about" bit, which closes the book now.

15. It's still in the running.
I love the name, it's right for him, but I just wish
it didnt have the other connotations. I go back & forth.
Buzz is good, then Buzzy for nickname or whatever. And
he was named by Uncle Leonard, the hermit/misanthrope
who "created" him and who got inspiration at a bluff
underlooking the Northern Lights, and the Lights are
said by some to give off a buzzing sound. So it's right
in many ways. And of course you'd like it, Bro!
