Bush Admits Katrina Air Force One Photo Was 'Huge Mistake'
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/06/bush-katrina-photo-mistake_n_779527.html

More than five years after the fact, former President George W. Bush is admitting that having a photograph taken of him peering out the window of Air Force One at the Katrina-caused wreckage of New Orleans was a "huge mistake."

During an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer set to air next week, Bush had no qualms accepting that, with 20/20 hindsight, he would have approached the situation much differently to avoid appearing "detached and uncaring."

"It's always my fault. I mean, I was the one who should have said: 'A) Don't take my picture, B) Let's land in Baton Rouge, La., C) Let's don't even come close to the area.' The next place to be seen is in Washington at a command center. I mean it was my fault," Bush said.

Bush's handling of the natural disaster was widely regarded as one of the low points of his political career, which was projected by a downward slide of his approval ratings in the following months.

(end snip)

Most people think of the picture with him looking out the window of AF1. I found this one far more disgusting, taken at the same time. Hard to see the bodies floatin' at 30,000 feet, ain't it Junior?

1. Fucker is going on a victory tour pretty soon -
just saw the headline at some news outlet on the internets. He should have gone for the Big Swing. Thanks, Nancy.

2. Know what's really disgusting? The fact that he considers a PHOTO
being taken as a huge mistake, rather than his allowing New Orleans to basically drown. I swear, with him you can practically hear him say, "It's all about MEEEE!"

3. No, you asshole. Your non-involvement with human suffering was the huge mistake.
And I see retirement hasn't improved you any.

7. All that man sees is PR, not policy
which is why he's totally unable to admit why his policies failed even worse than much of the PR did.

8. I'd call him a GIANT TOOL except that tools are useful.
So let me get this straight: the biggest regrets he has about Katrina are about a bad photo-op and a hip-hop star calling him out on his racism and his sociopathic indifference to human suffering on live TV.

That's it. That's what bugs him.

Not the THOUSANDS of people dead and the TENS OF THOUSANDS homeless and the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS traumatized and a great American city still struggling and in large parts abandoned because of a disaster that could have largely been prevented or mitigated if it weren't for racism, classism, and a fuck-you-buddy-I-got-mine "drown government in a bathtub" ideology.

Sometimes there really is nothing to say but :puke:
