Dear Tea Party: You will now get yours, By Mark Morford
And now, hot on the heels of our recent letter to whiny young Democrats, a loving shout-out to all those moderates and independents, confused conservatives and hard-line Repubs who went just a little more than slightly insane this past election.

To all of you who either flip-flopped your wishy-washy ideals and switched your vote from bluish to reddish this past election because Obama and the lukewarm Dems failed to solve all world problems in 700 days, or because you got yourself so emotionally riled up/mentally watered down by the sexy caveman grunts of the Tea Party that you actually bought the BS line about being "mad as hell" about nothing even remotely coherent.

Here is your grand message: You are hereby wonderfully, thoroughly screwed.

Oh darling, it's so very true. The fun-filled news is, despite all the bluster and rhetoric, thinly veiled racism and rampant Islamophobia on display, the new army of jittery, anti-everything GOP bobbleheads that you just voted into office doesn't care a single iota about you, or your haphazard values, or what you sometimes occasionally stand for. And what's more, deep down, you secretly know it. ...

3. Good Rant. Some really good points. Like this:
But truly, the issues themselves don't matter. For what Boehner & Co value most is not so much making any sort of significant change in American culture, but rather, in keeping the anger, the dread, the paranoia alive.

In other words, they care most about keeping you in the lower, plebian castes all riled and blind as long as possible. This way, power lies. This way we find war and military expenditure and all manner of misprision, torture, environmental rape, WMD and homophobia, you name it. Just ask Karl Rove. Hey, it's a platform. It worked for Dubya. Well, sort of.

5. I wouldn't mind so much about the 'baggers screwing themselves...
It's just that they dragged the rest of us down to get screwed right beside 'em. The other thing is, most of them are just too goddamn stupid to realize what they've done to themselves, they'll just wear a shit-eating grin and exult that their team won.

8. yep.
Then, when the destruction becomes even MORE visible, their demagogues will pin the blame on...... who? Who could it be?

And the RW propaganda which is doing its best to distance them from the ingrained social mores that most of us grow up with will have worked. They'll respond as they are being groomed to do: they'll step over the line that stops most of us from taking action on our anti-social impulses.

Those of us who hold onto what is truly humane and compassionate must act as examples. The more of us who refuse to go down the path the RW would have us succumb to, the more examples we will provide for those around us. That would be the definition of a real grassroots movement.

6. The Chutzpah Offensive...
Every rushpublican who gets near a microphone and/or camera these days is screaming how the GOTB has won some great mandate...some seismic shift in American politics. It's all bullshit and they know it...that's why they keep harping...hoping the lie catches on. Of course the corporate media laps it up but the voters are another story. Firstly, the rushpublicans were even less popular than Democrats in the House and Boner's "approval" ratings were in the Cheney range. The election was a vote against Democrats...especially blue dogs...than it was in favor of rushpublican policies. But so be it. The GOTB has now bought themselves an election and will have to put up or shut up. Surely the Democrats will do all they can to fascilitate this, but they have now bought onto fixing the economy...being a solution not a problem. If they succede in the next couple months, 2012 could be a dangerous year. Should they fail and over-reach with expensive, endless witch hunts and obstructionist games, their gains will be short-lived.

7. Fun read if it weren't so true....

"Not all red-leaning voters this election are hereby screwed. If you're tremendously wealthy and/or run a very large corporation, you're feeling damn good right about now. Wall Street is giddy like Charlie Sheen in a Bangkok brothel, eager for more deregulation, bigger bonuses, less oversight. The CEOs of every oil company in the world are positively orgasmic knowing that their GOP breathren will now asphyxiate all attempts at new environmental legislation and regulation. And so on.

But if you are a lower to middle-class Republican, Tea Partier or flip-flopping indie voter, you are now in the most delightfully ironic position of all -- you think you just voted yourself more voice, when in fact you voted for far less. You think yourself a lion; you're actually the meat. You actually just voted yourself an even lower position on the food chain. Congratulations. "

11. "...you secretly know it. ..." And that, right there, is the tell. The fools fell for it;
hook, line, and sinker. Probably the only enjoyment I'm going to get out of DC the next two years is seeing how dreadfully disappointed these yahoos are going to get--and I do so hope they are as public about it now as they have been the past year.

I'm bullish on popcorn futures...

14. They get what they deserve: the blind leading the blind.
Edited on Wed Nov-10-10 10:53 AM by political_Dem
Once the "Tea Bag Caucus" begins to submit their crazy bills (i.e. suspension of the 10 and 14th Amendment, requiring all 50 states to check the citizenship on Presidential candidates, no sharia law in the U. S. , etc.), the people who wanted to "teach Obama a lesson" will get a slap of reality when they realize that their vote invited the lunatics to run the asylum.

And then with crazy Bachmann and her McCarthyite leanings, it will be realized that the GOP and their unruly "brownshirts" will waste more money and time on legislative detrius that will serve or help no one except their own egos.

After all, the ego is the only thing the RW and their followers care about in this drive to "take their country back". But what do you do with a country that has been subjected to the lack of intellectualism and remorse of the previous Presidency? Bush and his RW cronies have messed up the conscience and soul of this country so much that some of its citizens will see cynism as a blessing and altruism as a curse.
