1. The payroll tax...
Edited on Wed Nov-10-10 01:46 PM by Gold Metal Flake
What would happen if every American paid the same percentage? What would happen if the rich man's exemption was removed?

The rich would be slightly less rich. And we simply can not have that. That is the problem with SS. That is the source of the SS "crisis". Per Thom.

On Edit: Anyone making moire than the cap (what is it, 96K?) gets a 13% bonus on the amount over the cap over the people making less. If the cap were lifted, every talking head on TV would have to pay more in taxes. Every hedge fund owner and trader would have to pay more in taxes. Every lawmaker in the Capitol would have to pay more in taxes. Even the President would have to pay more in taxes. Every conservative voice on the syndicated radio shows would have to pay more in taxes. Every pundit and every lobbyist would have to pay more in taxes.

That is the crisis. the Got-Mores want to continue being subsidized by the workers.

3. The cap can be removed and the percentage dropped!
"problem" solved -- although the powers that be consider Social Security pampering the weak and in their Darwinian delusions would rather have those weak people go die under a bridge somewhere and "decrease the surplus population"...

4. The REAL "economic drain" is in USAmerican "Sick Care"...
That's the fastest rising expense...

And could be cured by simply extending an Enhanced and Improved Medicare for All and removing the vampires sucking profit out of the system.

7. this episode of Thom's actually made me aware of things I didn't know
anyone who listens to this show and walks away without being pissed off isn't suffering financially and looking at a future without any social saftey net. Frankly, those people are against those of us who are suffering...

5. Thank you for posting about SS
I actually have a lot to learn on the current situation. So many rules have been changed out from under us by corporate interests, I am staying alert.
