Long John Silvers moving away from Gulf contamination concerns.
Just saw an advertisement from Long john Silvers where it was stressed several times in the period of thirty seconds that they now sell "Pacific Shrimp."

In the past, most American harvested shrimp has been from the Gulf, and this, to me, indicates they are now getting their shrimp from Asia or China. I haven't heard of shrimp beds along our Western Coast.

Fuck Long John and the horse he rode in on. I won't be buying any of their fried slop there anyway.

1. There is so much oil in their food already, why should they care?

2. Yeah, the oil spill and subsequent lies about contamination are all Long John Silver's fault..
Anyone who believes BP or the damn government regarding the level of contamination in the Gulf should just hark back to the statements about air quality at the WTC site being just fine after 9/11 by the EPA..

3. I remember the moment Giulliani was asked about the air quality after 9/11
It was during one of his many press conferences held outdoors. He said the air was fine and I recall yelling at the tv screen that he was a lying sack of shit.

Same with this BP oil spill. They're lying sacks of it - on fire.

4. Wait a minute, dude.
This was aimed at the idea of importing seafood and inferring that it came from the US.

Yes, there is contamination of certain Gulf seafoods but that has nothing to do with the fact that a major purveyor is marketing against ALL Gulf shrimp when the contamination is thankfully relegated to certain areas and not the entire Gulf.

7. well, unless I can be pretty damned certain that Gulf shrimp weren't sourced...
...from contaminated areas-- and note that shrimp do move around, entering and leaving contaminated regions-- I'd be reluctant to eat shrimp from the Gulf if all I knew about it was that it was from the Gulf. Frankly, I'd like to see some tissue ground up and mass spect'd and the hydrocarbon concentrations published on the wrapper. Along with mercury and other metals. Then I wouldn't care where it came from.

I am quite please with LJS for taking their costumers into consideration. Cocktail sauce is better than Corexit. ;)

9. What they probably mean by "Pacific Shrimp" is farm-raised shrimp
from Vietnam and China, which they have been using for years hoping nobody found out-- until now, of course, when they can put a positive spin on it.

10. It isn't just the oil that is the problem.
BP and the Coast Guard and even the Air Force colluded to use tankers to spray MILLIONS of gallons of Corexit all over the Gulf Coast, land and water, even at night.
For months.
Between the oil and the other contaminants, there is no way to guarantee the quality of seafood from the Gulf.

Testing the water and the seafood has not been extended to Corexit.

And I sure hate to have to say that. Between the casinos, Katrina and now BP, the Gulf is just a lovely memory to me.
