Freeze Congressional Pay
Today, Representative John Boehner said he wanted to freeze federal pay. I understand that a number of federal employees are paid large amounts of money. However, if Boehner wants to freeze federal pay he should also freeze congressional pay. Just about every year members of Congress give themselves a pay raise of about $3,000+ per year. In addition, it was announced that Boehner himself is scheduled to get a pay raise of about $30,000 next year, which will put him making about $220,000. If Boehner is so concerned about the budget he should bypass his raise. After freezing Congressional pay Boehner can move on to cutting the budget for Congressional offices and cutting Congressional pension plans.

1. Congressional pay should be cut in half, at least. They are not worth being paid
their current salary. nt

We need to cut spending where it hurts them. The defense industry.

That's where they have their money invested.

5. Freeze Congress, or Freeze Congressional Pay?
I'm open to either, but I just wanted to get clarity.

6. I was thinking we could just stick the lot of them into deep freeze for a while
Little chance they'll do any of us any good.
