Poll question: Give your interpretation of President Obama's words regarding the tax cuts.
Edited on Fri Nov-12-10 07:08 PM by coti
Below are the two points he has made in his statements, repeatedly, in staking out his beginning negotiating position with Republicans over the tax cuts. He and others in his Administration have used these same words on several different occasions, now.

#1- "I want to make sure that taxes don't go up for middle class families starting on January 1. That is my No. 1 priority for those families and for our economy."

#2- "I also believe that it would be fiscally irresponsible for us to permanently extend the high income tax cuts."

What is your interpretation of the meaning of these two points with regard to whether he will agree to temporarily extend the top 2% tax cuts?

1. The MSM is driving this story for THEIR ratings. Let's wait and see before we get angry.

4. Everything temporary and bad for the people gets extended
Look at the patriot act. It was supposed to expire. The war in Iraq. War in Afganistan. These tax cuts for the rich. Most likely, they will be extended a couple years now, and after two more years when the Democrats are in an even worse political position, they will be made permanent.

6. I voted the second from top BUT I'd prefer a new choice
between the second from top & third because I think "he MAY extend temporarily the wealthiest' tax cuts", but I sure as hell hope he won't do even that. I hope he's bluffing the Right & not us, the Left.

7. Maybe he wants it to be 'the' election issue in 2012.
