Fifty-three percent say income tax cuts should be renewed for all

Voters not sold on GOP’s agenda

Fifty-three percent say income tax cuts sthat soon will expire should be renewed for all — including the highest earners, as Republicans want — according to an Associated Press-GfK Poll conducted just after last week’s elections. But 44 percent would continue the cuts only for those earning under $250,000 a year — which Obama favors — or let them lapse for everyone.

1. I wonder about some of the wording

and just how the poll questions were asked. Seems that they were a bit too broad.

3. i keep saying
That I support across-the-board tax cuts for all taxpayers - up to their first 250,000 of income. I wonder how that option would poll. I'll bet it would fare a lot higher than "middle-class tax cuts." Why do we always get sucked into the republicans' framing???

4. and of course by extending the tax cuts up to the first 250k
you are indeed extending that same tax cut for everyone earning up to 250k and above, including the bazillionaires.

The issue has been muddled, probably by design.

5. 53% want apples & 47% want oranges.
...So what does ice cream and carrots have to do with taxes?

6. It's called an 'analogy.' Try Googling it if the concept is too esoteric for ya!
The DU member to whom you're being sofa king rude is trying to say that people (especially immature people) often make decisions based on instant gratification instead of their long-term interests - sorta like joining an ostensibly Democratic discussion board and dispensing gratuitous insults against other members.

8. Stupid poll
ask anybody if they want to pay more taxes. No.

That's why we have representative government.

Of course the teabaggers opine that we should put idiots in charge. Then things will work better.

9. Isn't it funny how public opinion is meant to be a guiding light,
when we're talking about tax cuts, but when we're talking about Social Security cuts, public opinion is meaningless?
