Enough already–Miller campaign adviser has endless allegations but no evidence
If Floyd Brown, adviser to Joe Miller, had the evidence to back up his claims of corruption and election fraud, we would have seen it by now.

But we haven’t.

This post-election import to the Miller campaign, whose activities were once described by the first President Bush as “despicable,” should apologize to Alaskans and go back to Seattle.

Because Brown has said he is speaking for the GOP nominee, Miller should weigh in on this as well.

Brown, the man who created the Willie Horton attack ads against Michael Dukakis, showed up this week in Juneau to try to discredit the Alaska election system and claim it is corrupt. He is long on allegations and short on facts.

“The stories of manipulation are just almost mind-boggling,” Brown said at a press conference Thursday in Juneau.

Really?

Brown and the Miller campaign have provided no mind-boggling specifics.

The claims of irregular behavior at one polling station in Fairbanks were so exaggerated that even the Miller campaign poll watcher, cited as the source, said he knew of no fraud.

The Democratic poll watcher at that polling place, surely no supporter of Sen. Lisa Murkowski or the Parnell administration, reported no problem. Neither did anyone else.

1. For another opinion
please read this piece at The Mudflats: http://www.themudflats.net/2010/11/13/mr-wrong-is-right-and-other-strange-tales-from-the-alaska-senate-rabbit-hole/

Mr. Wrong is Right, and Other Strange Tales from the Alaska Senate Rabbit Hole

We should all be used to it by now. Alaska politics will turn into something far more complicated than we believed was possible. The Corrupt Bastards Club, the Ted Stevens trial, the Don Young Coconut Road fiasco, some half-term governor run amok in the Lower 48, and now this – the Alaska Senate race of 2010.

It’s always interesting when you find yourself with a strange bedfellow. That happened quite a bit when Palin had the VP nomination. People who were following the race from Alaska will remember that there were local Republicans a-plenty who wrote some really great scathing pieces about her. Several of them made me smile more than a little, and then suddenly shudder when I found myself thinking things like, “You go, Dan Fagan!” or “Sing it, Paul Jenkins!” Many readers may find themselves doing the same thing now when they read Peggy Noonan, or Karl Rove or George W. Bush who slam the ex-half governor, and future presidential candidate.

So, it is with a whiplash-addled heart that I commend…. (pauses for a shot of vodka)… that I say kudos to (mops brow)… that I agree with (deep breath)… Joe Miller.

It’s ironic that Alaska’s election system, which has more holes than a double-wide wheel of Swiss cheese, has now come under criticism by a Republican. Usually, it’s the Dems who get the short end of that particular stick and the Republicans obfuscate, roadblock, and chuckle to themselves.

<snip>

But here’s something interesting. It’s a sworn statement from a ballot counter in Juneau. CLICK. Seems as if someone got their mitts on the ballots before the official count, and was kind enough to stack them in piles according to senate candidate. If this sworn statement is true, then the law was broken, as was the chain of custody of the ballots. Are any missing? We don’t know, because the Division of Elections will not let the Miller campaign examine the public records showing how many people signed in to vote, and compare it to the number of ballots.

2. There is a difference between valid concerns and
made-up, over-the-top allegations being made by Floyd Brown.

3. Of course,
but if his over-the-top machinations brings attention to Alaska's flawed election process, then more power to him. The Democrats fought this fight in 2006 and got nowhere. Surely, we should be allowed to do cross-checks to make sure that the totals being reported by the precincts match the total number of voters. When Lisa Murkowski defeated Tony Knowles in 2006, some precincts showed that over 200% of the registered voters in that precinct voted. How could that be?

BradBlog has been watching Alaska's elections for a while, and he has concerns, as well, We're still using the machines that California outlawed.

4. Yes, but, if it is too over the top
and dismissed, then all complaints will be dismissed, even valid ones.

5. Floyd Brown's mind is easily boggled
You or I could make up a story capable of boggling his mind just sitting on the hopper for our morning sit down.
