Couple a things...

First, let me say American Liberalism is dead. Don't get me wrong, liberals still exist. But the liberalism, that is a group that acts as an emissary of liberalism is dead. There are no elected liberals left in the Democratic party, save a congressman here and there. This has nothing to do with a 'polar shift' in America, as the RW would have you believe, but simply both parties and the mainstream media have decreed it so. Ever since the fairness doctrine was killed, it let the foxes run the hen house, if you will. The topic was changed from "How can we help the poor?" to "How do we get rid of the poor?" Reagan pretty much summed it up about the war on poverty: "There's still poverty, right?" On military issues, it went from "How can we make America safer?" to "How can we make American companies safer?" In fact, on the issue of Globalism, it was a pair of Democrats who sold our country out, lock stock and barrel: Clinton and Gore.

The party does not view us as their 'base.' The base changed in the 70's from the constituents, to the corporations. Citizens United was just the icing on the cake. Corporate worth is much greater than individual worth. Likewise, the GOP does not view the Fundies their base either. How do I know this? Bush and Congress could have outlawed abortion and they didn't. If that's not dissing your base, I don't know what is.

So it does not surprise me that the "Rally to restore sanity" was nothing more than a corporate (Viacom) publicity stunt. It wasn't for us, or sanity, or even fear - it got you all to tune in to Comedy Central, didn't it? And if you actually went to the event, there was plenty of corporate presence there. They hooked and reeled us in just like a fish.

"We" don't get a rally. Glen Beck's rally, although he spoke of God a lot, was really just pushing FOX and Goldline. It too, was an empty shell. And like the Comedy Central one, it was done for audience entertainment, not for any cause or purpose.


So you have a country where the population is not represented. By anyone. The rule went from "What's good for GM is good for America" to "America is GM. Those other folks who live here do just that - they just live here"

We are a people without representation, without a party and pretty much without a country. You can protest all you want in your free-speech zone, or write as many letters to the editors you want - but in the end, the Corporate line is the only line that's followed. Voting does not work. Even if we get one or two "good guys" in there, it will do no good. They'll just do what Dennis has done all these years: stay pure and bang their heads on the wall. And what does it accomplish: nada. You'd be better off donating your money to a big fence around your house, than try to take the 'country back.'
