Got to say this about Sarah Palin:
She sure is photogenic.

I just wish she would stick to something like being a strong voice for the mentally and physically disabled. She would be really good at that.

She is kind of amazing. Kind of an interesting and strange phenomenon.

Just wish she would go do her thing somewhere besides politics.

I haven't heard her in so long that I forgot about that.

I've just been seeing all the photos of her in Alaska.

Amazing? She looks like a cartoon character from the Sunday comics page to me. Back when the Sunday comics only had limited colors. Limited is a good adjective for her, imo.

9. Maybe that's her appeal.
I only know that a lot of guys really think she is hot.

Course, having a lot of guys think you are hot is not necessarily a good thing. Unless you don't mind being reduced to a sex object.

7. There's no money in being a strong voice for mentally and physically disabled
so it's a non-starter for her, unless she needs to use her daughter for political gain and/or make more money.

It's too bad she couldn't use her talent for some kind of good.

20. I like to think there is good in everyone
But when it comes to Palin and her ilk, I'm not so sure. She may have some good -- but I'd have to look really, really hard to find it.

22. Actually, as time goes on, she's going to have major issues with her
Down's Syndrome child. Her child is going to have special needs & I can see where in the future that Palin will have no choice but to -- finally -- focus on her child's future coping skills.

Just watched the most endearing documentary on HBO In Demand recently, called "Monica & David". This couple, both with DS, were married & are living with Monica's parents. They're both very relatively smart, listen well to direction & advice, but find simple jobs like stuffing envelopes "hard". I fell in love with them. Monica's mother worries what will happen to them when she's no longer there to assist them. Monica's parents are well off, but I wondered how those with lesser means cope.

8. I find no redeeming qualities for Palin
and if she didn't have a child who is mentally disabled, she wouldn't give a damn about disabled people. She should stick to reality shows and stay the hell out of politics.

26. She's just another Carrie Prejean. By accident, she hit the national scene
Edited on Sun Nov-14-10 09:08 PM by DeschutesRiver
has no brains, no talent except for her selection as a hood ornament for horny old white repubs to salivate and fantasize over to get their vote.

She has finally found her niche - giving speeches for big bucks while saying the same thing over and over. And doing reality tv shores, the Alaskan version of Jersey Shores.

And I've seen the old power repubs coming out with their knives now. I'll bet Sarah still thinks that she is a serious tea bagger candidate for higher office, but that is now offically over, with this reality show. I heard her say "not reality tv! It is a DOCUMENTARY ON ALASKA". Hardly - it is just starting here on the west coast and all I've seen is her, her family, her bitching about her writer renter neighbor and privacy for HER family.

She is merely capitalizing on her cult status - no problem, but her alleged quest for higher office is over. Buh-bye Palin.

28. And btw, who the fuck gets that close to bears?
Edited on Sun Nov-14-10 09:31 PM by DeschutesRiver
First the Palins are talking all about themselves; their obsession with their neighbor author; them, them, them.

Now that they show some wildlife briefly interspersed with more all Palin, all the time, they are intruding far closer into the bear's space than I'd bet even the regs allow on a fishing trip. And now I see that the next part seems to be about Willow and her boyfriends (how old is that kid?) - more "real Alaskan" which seems to be nothing more than the inside of Palin's home.

That's it for me - there is a Holmes on Homes show on now, and I'm switching over to it (or IRT deadliest Roads). This Palin production is no more about Alaska than the Holmes show is, but at least I know what I'm getting with that other show.

P.S. This is exactly like that Little People, Big World, which is filmed in a neighborhood near my old neck of the woods. The show isn't about my neighborhood or Oregon - it is about pretending and raking in a pile of cash while you show trivial daily scenes of that family. All fluff, no meat, and certainly not a documentary about a state either.

35. Here's what hurts about Sarah Palin.
I worked so hard back in the 60's so that women could have equal opportunities. Women were just left out of everything then. There were about 3 careers where you could actually make some money - teaching, secretary, nurse. I was in anthropology and women were not welcome and were simply forced out one way or another.

So it is so hard for me to see someone like this - a woman who has managed to have a lot of clout and who a lot of people pay attention to - and she is such a loser.

It's very painful.
