Pew Research: 55% - Repeal Bush Tax Cuts

PEW RESEARCH CENTER FOR THE PEOPLE & THE PRESS

55% - Repeal Bush Tax Cuts

The 2010 elections swept Republicans into power of the House of Representatives, but a majority of those who voted in this year's election do not side with the GOP on the full extension of the Bush administration tax cuts. A post-election Pew Research Center survey finds that most voters (55%) favor either repealing the Bush administration's tax cuts for everyone (22%) or repealing those received by higher-income taxpayers (33%). Only 40% of voters favor leaving the tax cuts intact. Among all adults, 34% favor keeping all the tax cuts while 30% want the tax cuts for the wealthy to expire and 28% say all tax cuts should be repealed.

1. 60% of adults say that tax cuts for the rich should expire.
That sounds like a mandate.

2. I'm surprised at the high number that want to keep the tax cuts.
It's not a hopeful number.

10. That's only because those 60% are too stupid to compromise.

4. 55 percent?
We need far more people supporting it than that. If we want the economy to recover, we must end the tax cuts.

8. Thank you!
There's no excuse for the media and polling agencies to use inaccurate and misleading language like this, unless they did it intentionally.

6. That's about the same as the exit polls
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/polls/#val=USH00p3

51% favor a repeal for the taxcuts for the rich.

But I hate polls, regardless. The people who seem to be shouting the loudest are on the minority side of the issue.

7. I used to be on the side of keeping all tax cuts because i was concerned about the economy.
Now I'm more worried that if we keep just the middle class tax cuts we will never be able to get rid of them. Unless we have the political advantage of getting rid of tax cuts for the wealthy the optics of raising taxes on just the middle class will kill anyone who wants to raise them.

Then there is no end to the deficit.

9. I read that as 64% (or 70%) favoring keeping the cuts intact for everyone except the very rich
Unrec for deceptive spin in the subject line.
