Fox News anchor effectively says all Hispanics are illegal aliens

By John Byrne
Tuesday, November 16th, 2010 -- 10:24 am

Fox News often takes the spotlight for its sensational news coverage, but one Fox News anchor appears to have taken the network a step further. The anchor, Trace Gallagher, claimed that a new study has shown 100,000 illegal aliens have left Arizona since the passage of a draconian new law, SB 1070, that allows police to check the immigration status of anyone they pull over.

"The way they got the numbers is they crunched them using the current US population survey and then they had numbers from the Mexican government, is what they came up with, is that 100,000 illegals have left Arizona -- there are 100,000 illegals fewer before SB 1070 was ever talked about," Gallagher said.

Only that's not what the study says. The study actually says that the immigration law in Arizona has likely provoked the voluntary departure of 100,000 Hispanics from the southern US state.

In fact, even the words beneath Gallagher's face spell out what the study says: "100K FEWER HISPANICS IN AZ SINCE IMMIGRATION DEBATE."

1. Faux News is incapable of telling the truth.
They couldn't tell the truth even if it was to their benefit.

2. Which is why Hispanics should be upset at illegal immigration.
I'd be pissed if I'm getting extra scrutiny because of what others are doing.

4. And we should be pissed at terrorists for the TSA too, right?
I mean, it's the TERRORISTS who took away all our rights at airports, right?

Not the government.

Same thing for all those Hispanics, they should be angry at illegal immigrants, NOT at the government policies that fuck them over.

Right?

3. Citizens are leaving. Citizens who own thriving businesses and pay taxes--they leave
because a lot of their customer base, citizen and otherwise, are leaving. In two years, my state will reap what it sowed, and it won't be pretty.

We're already in a budget crisis with a do-nothing but evil legislature and a clueless governor. I'm seriously thinking of leaving myself--I'm Anglo, I've lived here since the mid-1970's (as a child) and I don't like the hate that has permeated my state.

12. Race mixing is communism..
Just like the conservatives now saying that islam is nazism. Again, the conservatives aren't making sense.

These pictures on this thread are early images of teabagger gatherings from decades ago, they just didn't call themselves the teabaggers until obama got elected.

8. Kind of goes to the heart of the problem with SB 1070, doesn't it? "Brown skin = illegitmate."

10. their roots may go back further than many a white descendant
of European immigrants do. Idiotic Faux. Just proves they are racists, they don't care about compliance with the immigration law or not. If Europeans were illegally here, they'd be all for amnesty.

13. I don't see much of a scandal...
so of those 100,000 Hispanics that left AZ and went to another state... how many were legal citizens? 10%? 30%? I think it's clear that MOST were not legal citizens who didn't feel welcome any more. Which, tbh... is exactly what the bill supporters wanted.
