Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 02:57 PM by onehandle
To celebrate The Beatles on iTunes. The video is included with the digital 'box set.'

Runs for a total of 41:08. Includes all of their banter and the boys moving their own equipment around to satisfy the 'in the round' audience.

I've seen clips from this, but never the entire concert in Washington DC.

http://www.apple.com/the-beatles/concert

In related news, the comments sections of much of the Internet and many on Twitter today, suddenly hate The Beatles. 'Coincidentally,' these people also hate Apple.

3. Meanwhile, many clips of Oasis have been on YouTube for years without being deleted.
Oasis meets their audience, whether they can afford to see them live or not.

Score one for Oasis.

5. And yet tight control has been maintained over the Beatles' live footage.
Edited on Tue Nov-16-10 02:25 PM by LoZoccolo
Oasis, it seems, has not tightened controls as the Beatles have.

As a matter of fact, there is video on their own site right now:
http://oasisinet.com

I went to http://www.beatles.com and the site did not even work.

Score one for Oasis.

12. No, I'm not. I was never sure which was which
Mostly I remember that they had a 'band rivalry' and one of the bands also had brothers who fought all the time. Wait, maybe that was the Kinks....

19. Oasis was proud of being called Beatle like when they first were out - even the members of Oasis
would be unlikely to say that they were better than the Beatles.

Even had they stayed together, they never would have had a fraction of the importance to music and culture that the Beatles have.

The Beatles broke up 40 years ago - and their music is still listened to. Score one for the Beatles. The importance is the MUSIC and it is and has been available in various formats continuously since 1963.

Is that from Midnight at the Oasis? Send your camel to bed. LOL! I guess us older folk don't know these new fandangled little fake bands they have these days. Where the microphone is their voice, and none of them know how to play an instrument.

24. Who here wants reality? More fun I guess to smear the
Fab Four.

It is hard for younger people to get it - they'd be listening to Bobby Vinton and other crap if not for the original British Invaders.

22. When the Beatles were a group, youtube and even VCRs did not exist
We watched the television - for free - when they were on and hear them on the radio - for free. I and many others saved money from babysitting to buy their albums. George Harrison's Illinois based sister actually had a newsletter that some of us midwestern fans subscribed to. There was also a Beatles fan club for which they made funny records each year.

Not to mention, even adjusting for inflation, tickets to see the Beatles were more affordable than tickets to most groups now.

As someone who turned 14 in 1964, I was a Beatles fan from the moment I heard them. In fact, I was curious to hear them even before they were in the US after reading much about them in letters from a pen pal who live in Plymouth, England.

21. I am SO tired of people these days.
The sense of entitlement on the internet is just astounding. Nothing is good enough, nothing is easy enough, nothing is worth a damn. Now, I don't even imagine that this is "the voice of the people" any more than I believe the Tea Party is, it's just that the complainers complain and those of us who are appreciative and delighted (not without prejudice or a sense of the limitations and realities of what we get, mind you) with much that the world has to offer don't speak up, so negativity rules the day.

This is cool. Seeing the concert will be wonderful and having The White Album blaring from my car stereo will make many a traffic jam a big old singalong and having it plugged into my ears will make many a walk have a soundtrack that I love. My life just got better!

31. Via a fellow DUer
I discovered Pandora on my Netflix channels, d/l it and they're actually playing Beatles songs. I heard "Norwegian Wood" yesterday and just melted. There are a lot of groups from the 60's that didn't "time" well. Not so with the Beatles. In fact, with nobody playing actual instruments anymore, some no-talent "singing" the same 3 notes over and over and they need AutoTune to do THAT and with 3rd grade rhyme masquerading as "art," I can't tell you how nice it's been to hear the Beatles again.

Now, get off my lawn! :hippie:

I just mentioned in the body that it's also part of the box set.

It's an extra that is not included with the physical CD box set, but Apple is providing it to all.
