Think about this
A few countries around the world, among them Israel, have said no to these machines. You think they said no to spite us or because they are...security theater?

1. Or maybe it's 'cause they are expensive, ineffective, frauds.

4. Dogs. We need more dogs.
Dogs are far more effective than these machines.(and far LESS intrusive)

3. I say theater...
Life is grand theater these days. I was just saying this to the Co-Presidents of our company... when I was a kid a blew a government scholarship grant on theater school. Sometime later I thought I'd wasted it, but come to find out, it's served me very, very well in corporate America!

There are very few stories and songs in the world... they just keep being reinvented.

Even now with the "leaked" photos of scans, we're not seeing any evidence that this scanning is useful. They've never tried to prove their validity by showing how bad things like bombs and such show up on the screen. I think this was a very expensive subplot in a play to garner profit.

10. they cost too much for what they do
the alternative to the backscatter device is the patdown, which is free, therefore there is no reason to have these machines except to line someone's pocket

i think people have this idea that the scanners can actually see weapons wedged deep in a person's anus or vagina, and it spares the traveler from a possible cavity search, however, this was already shown not to be the case, apparently stuff crammed up there gets by the scanner just like it gets by the patdown

so they're not an improvement, they're just an expense

12. Actually the alternative are dogs
Not even a thorough pat can find a few bombs

This is 'bout theater and cowing a population. Oh and yes, corruption...

11. The Israelis have never lost an airliner
The US has, a few. The Israelis don't grope, nor do they use Chretoff Profit Scanners. And no one on Earth is more security aware than the Israelis.
