Gloria Allred says Meg Whitman needs to "do the right thing" for former housekeeper Nicky Diaz
San Jose -- Attorney Gloria Allred, representing Meg Whitman's former housekeeper Nicky Santillan Diaz at a labor conference today, advised the former GOP gubernatorial candidate that "it is never late to do the right thing,'' and urged her to pay the Mexican domestic worker wages she insists are still due.
As cameras clicked away, Allred -- who arrived clutching Diaz's arm -- spoke to reporters and later went up and introduced herself to Whitman's husband, Stanford neurosurgeon Dr. Griffith Harsh. He and Whitman's attorney were on hand for the scheduled wage and hour "informal conference" meeting being held today at the California Division of Labor Standards and Enforcement in San Jose regarding Diaz' claim.
Allred, speaking to the press, delivered a bold message to the failed California GOP gubernatorial candidate. "You spent $143 million of your own money on your campaign,'' Allred said in a statement she read today. "Hopefuly, you have enough money left to pay your housekeeper the wages that you owe her."
That amounts to $8,000-$10,000 said Allred, including "reimbursement for mileage which we contend that Ms. Whitman also owes to Nicky."
