Need Help on a green issue - I have 100 Steelcase workstations that
I need to get rid of for work as we are moving and getting new furniture. I have looked into liquidation, but no one wants to buy it. I can't even give the stuff away. I don't want to scrap it and have it wind up in a landfill, but that is looking like the only option as it all has to be out of our office by the first of the year. Anyone have any ideas on what to do or know anyone in DC that might want it?

9. when you say "scrap" it that means taking it to the "scrapyard"...
they do not landfill scrap steel. I do this all the time with parts from my work, but you would need help hauling the stuff...perhaps you could look up a local guy who does this, I see them all the time in my area. Guys with trucks are always watching for steel to recycle.

12. The style of desk will effect your ability to dispose of them for reuse
If they are the traditional rectangular desk with square edges, 3 drawer on each side, it will be difficult.

Most people want the rounded corners and stuff that configures into a workstation.

13. If you lived near me, I'd take two.
Ideally, you should tell your boss that you'll take all of them-- and then turn around and sell them all.

Those things are really expensive.

If I could, I'd pay $100 each for two, just to have in my house.

14. I bet there are nonprofits that would love them.
Send your craigslist free listing to them by email?

I want one...shipping would be a booger though!

16. By "steelcase", does that imply actual steel? If so, they are worth money at a scrap yard.
I collect scrap metal on trash days and make a run to our local yard. A van load might pull in $30 or more and if you're talking 100 workstations made of steel that could be worth the rental for a truck to haul it (with a beer party for volunteers who do the hauling). You could pull in some $$$. There at least USED to be a yard in Laurel, MD and I'm sure they are all over the area.
