Woman found dead in foreclosed Florida home
How sad.

"A body was discovered in a foreclosed home on Thursday, authorities told NBC television station WESH.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said a woman was found in the passenger seat of a car in the garage.

<snip>

A spokesman for the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said authorities did receive a call in March to check on the well-being of the homeowner, but there was not enough cause to break into the home to check.

Everly said neighbors told him the owner had been missing since August 2008. Deputies said the owner, who property records list as Kathryn Norris, was never reported missing..."

2. No job, no home, no family, no hope left
I guess it was just too much and she checked out. Sometimes suicide is a rational decision and has nothing to do with mental illness.

Expect more of this.

The way people are treated in this country is criminal.

4. Isn't it more likely she died in the car and then stopped paying the bills?

6. Probably not.
but they'll never know for certain. The other culprits, stroke or heart attack, will be long unprovable, as will the carbon monoxide content of her blood.

11. I would think the car could tell whether or not it was a suicide.
If there's gas in the tank, or the key is in the off position, it seems to me that it wouldn't have been a suicide.

13. It's Florida
and if the gas cap isn't airtight, the gas can evaporate over a 2 1/2 year period. However, the key position will be critical since the remains will be largely skeletonized.

14. Try living in pain for years
and being told you're terminal. Sometimes it just gets too hard and that's where suicide comes in.

In places with assisted suicide laws, they've found that people took a great deal of comfort in knowing the means were there, even if they never used them.

Yes, it can be a rational decision in some cases.

16. let me tell you a story
about a friend of mine

he has AIDS-at one point he had about 24 T-cells; he joked that he named them all

in the 12 years I've known him, he's been hospitalized several times for pneumonia; he's probably on his last drug regime and who knows how long he's going to hang on

I asked him if he ever thought about getting a morphine drip and turning it up on high and he said no

he's fought it for nearly 30 years and he's going to keep on fighting it and doing everything he can do make however much time he has left the best he can

8. I know. Someone emailed into the Mike Malloy Show tonight and
said if the government did not extend his unemployment, that on December 1st he would kill himself. It sounds like the man had lost just about everything and that his unemployment check was his last lifeline.

What a country!

10. My thought exactly!

I live by myself and have told my neighbors that if they see more than one newspaper on my front porch to use their key (2 neighbors have one) and come on in.
