You don't mind on bit, of course, your gay buddy is a better shot than you are and he always has your back when the shit hits the fan. And plus, you really don't care who he's screwing in his off time. He's your buddy and you're damn lucky to have a soldier like him serving next to you.
But the fact is, that if your DON'T rat your buddy out under DADT, you too can be punished and discharged as well.
This policy was one of the worse things that I hated about my time in uniform. It fostered an atmosphere of mistrust and hatred, for no apparent reason except to satisfy the sick whims of a bunch of hateful bigots on Capitol Hill.
When its gone, good riddance, I say.
