It’s time to take a charge.

Maybe the reason progressives and in particular the LGBT community haven’t been able to get Obama to hear our message is that we haven’t been speaking in a language he understands. So let’s try a new tack by speaking in a sporting vernacular that we know he understands. Basketball!

Shane Battier of the Houston Rockets makes some very poignant statements about how important taking a charge really is. He does however emphasize that taking a charge takes courage. He also says that taking a charge “can cast doubt into the mind of the offensive player and keep him off balance.” I think that you will agree Mr. President that there are some very “offensive players” in the Congress who it would behoove you and our party to keep off balance.
So it’s time to pick a spot on the floor and plant your feet Mr. President. Take a charge for the team. By doing so you may regain some of our respect and more importantly our votes.

That's just so condescending and borderline racist. Too many Americans make racist comments every day without ever even realizing it.

Obama built a Basketball court at the White House. He goes around the U.S. playing b-ball all the time. How is stating that he understands the vernacular of Basketball make me a racist. Pleeeeeeeeese!
As far as being condescending how about "marriage is a sacred union, God is in the mix." Sound familiar? Not so borderline bigotry.

As a donor, Obama for America came to me early in the 2010 campaign. I sat through the PowerPoint show and listened to the bs about ALL that the administration had "achieved." When the round table conversation started I brought up the promises on DADT, EDNA and DOMA. Faces went red and many stammered "Ya but you have to understand......." I said I was tired of the view from the back of the bus. Most understood but none had a good answer for why I should keep shuffling back behind every knew "real issue" that comes up. After a few weeks of making many in the OFA very uncomfortable, I backed out. When they called to ask why I told them point blank that I would donate my time and money when they started to recognize my lack of equality as a "real issue." Until then bugger off!
And before anyone decides to flame, I still voted a straight Democratic ticket. So the flamers can bugger off too.
