Poll question: Calisthetics as punishment

While discussing child discipline methodologies with mah hubbee (and spending a fair amount of time trying to convince him that, no, I was not pregnant) I asked if he would ever spank his offspring.

He's not opposed to the idea but he said he would "smoke" them the way a drill sergeant disciplines recruits. He says there is something about having to do lots of push-ups and other stuff (sorry, but they have weird names I can't remember) that "focuses the mind."

Good idea or no?
