Hillary Clinton: I Would Not Submit to One of TSA’s Patdowns
by Nisha Chittal | 10:24 am, November 21st, 2010

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made the Sunday talk show rounds this morning, appearing on Fox News Sunday, CBS’s Face the Nation, and NBC’s Meet the Press. The topic of conversation: TSA’s new security measures and national security.

On Face the Nation, host Bob Schieffer asked Secretary Clinton whether she would submit to one of TSA’s controversial new patdowns.

“Not if I could avoid it. No. I mean who would?” she responded.

However, she did note that while she feels the new patdowns should be made less intrusive, they are still a necessary security measure. On Meet the Press, she told David Gregory “I mean obviously the vast, vast majority of people getting on these planes are law abiding citizens who are just trying to get from one place to another. But let’s not kid ourselves. The terrorists are adaptable.”

“Striking the right balance is what this is about. And I am absolutely confident that our security experts are gonna keep trying to get it better and less intrusive and more precise…Everybody is trying to do the right thing and I understand how difficult it is, and how offensive it must be for the people who are going through it,” she said.

5. I suspect she's been flying private jets since before they introduced metal detectors.
It really is amazing, how wide the gulf between rich and not rich has grown-- and how completely detached our political class has become. They're in their own little bubble. It is not healthy.

20. A lot of conservative whackos despise Bill & Hillary
because of their political profiles. I imagine they have to take that into account when flying. I'm not so sure I would choose a public air plane when traveling if I were them either.

26. Agree. They (TSA) want to scan the pilots, but John Boehner
got an escort AROUND the search requirements. What a country.

33. Glad you use vulva not vagina but how is an anus palpated through clothing?
Seriously, you'd have to spread most people's butt cheeks to get at their anus. I don't think they are put in a lithotomy position or made to spread their butt cheeks.

or had other moral objections to it, she would resign rather than "back up her boss." Others have done it (Robert Reich comes to mind) and I'm waiting for someone in this admin to do the right thing, even if they're doing the right thing only for political purposes. I'm still waiting.

22. Then I assume you're also waiting for the president to resign -
after all, he's spent the last two years compromising his (presumed) principles because he thinks that what the American people (his 'boss') want him to do, instead of doing the right thing.

what he wants to do, for whatever reason. I did vote for the guy, and cried with joy when he won. I did not vote for Hillary because (1) she voted for the war and (2) I don't like the idea of political 'dynasties' running the country. It's too cozy.

Hillary has agreed with her boss for one of several reasons: she doesn't want to lose her job no matter what indignities she must agree with; or she agrees with the TSA policy. Simple as that. In my mind, that plus her war vote make her just as spineless or self-serving as most of the other Dems and thus unsuitable to run for prez again.

29. Rehashing the 2008 primary is not productive, but you can't really say that.
I doubt she would have been as insistent on singing "Kumbaya" with Washington Republicans as President Obama has been.

Remember, she coined the phrase, "vast right-wing conspiracy". In the category, "Know thy enemy", Clinton definitely beats Obama.

A lot of people have said that Bill Clinton and Obama have a great need to be liked. Mrs. Clinton doesn't have that gene. ;-)

11. Ha-ha!
Before all this intrusive groping started to affect everyone else, I was ridiculed for even suggesting that Chelsea Clinton should be subjected to them, because then, it would stop.

See, I was right. Hillary Clinton, who knows that she plans to step down from political office some day and become an ordinary person, is now making sure to get her two cents in.

then we may be able to feel less afraid...????? Less reasons to be freaked out???? More we create terror overseas, more we mess up our own safety????? No????

And at least it's respectful and not dismissively using words like 'inconvenient' and 'frustrating'.
