Obama should remember these words of Dr. King
"A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus."

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom."

and for GLBT:

"A right delayed is a right denied."

2. I appreciate ALL comments because it keeps this OP alive...
A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble.

5. one recommendation has been taken from this OP without comment...
Is that a "No uttered from the deepest conviction?" If they had true "conviction" they'd have commented.

6. Excellent! I do wish this administration would drive a stake in the ground on
their convictions, draw a line in the sand. I always feel solutions can often be reached, but IMO the conciliatory behavior is getting a bit overextended.

10. I support him too. I want very much for him to be successful! I do have to
admit, though, I have my ups and downs.

13. I understand and feel the same way. You can't compromise with those that don't care...
to compromise with you. There are people in DC intent on destroying the middle class in America. There is no compromising with them.

15. There are a number of things that amaze me anymore, one is the minorities
fighting each other than banding together. Another one, those voting in their worst possible interest by keeping/placing those in DC intent on destroying them.

Many in this nation have become sacrificial lambs by placing the wolves in DC. What I find even more striking are those in the masses that do corporate bidding by rallying for and supporting their agenda which will assuredly strike the masses down.

As you say, "There are people in DC intent on destroying the middle class in America." yet many in the middle class vote them in, over and over and over ...

I used to chalk it up to ignorance, but that pales my mind anymore ... just how stupid can stupid get.

19. No kidding - I do wonder sometimes exactly how much power he has.
Yes he could help us a lot with executive orders, but he can be just as easily eliminated by the money folks who own this country as any of us.

The capitalism is so entrenched, we have billionaires pulling the strings, not to mention the military industrial complex doing their own thing. I don't see any other way out besides millions us on the street protesting - fighting back. Nothing is going to change through crumbs of legislation (and we're not even going to get that with repubs back in charge).

the men and women in Congress since they're the ones who actually make/change laws. Strange that you didn't mention them.

The Constitutional Crisis I expected in the Spring is here.

People better wake the fuck up...the next six months will be critical... it is HERE.

And yes this will test Mr. Kumbaya, but it will test the rest of us too.
