Green living: Boat powered by sunshine arriving in Miami

BY CURTIS MORGAN
cmorgan@MiamiHerald.com

A vessel seemingly straight out of a vintage James Bond movie will slip into Miami's Government Cut sometime around 8 a.m. Saturday.

The craft, a strange mash-up of gleaming glass arrowhead, sleek flying saucer and knife-nosed catamaran, was not designed by an evil madman plotting world domination. It's the brainchild of Raphael Domjan, a Swiss engineer and self-described ``eco-adventurer'' with a not-all-that crazy scheme to circle the world using only sunshine for fuel.

7. Not nearly large enough for Hugh and ALL the bunnies.
There is a smaller, two stateroom version out there (as seen on TV just yesterday) with a solar electric(6kw)/bio-diesel hybrid drive.

That said, how long until someone posts that "it'll never work", "what's the point" or "we're still doomed"?

3. Great idea, here's another eco-friendly craft.

Old Ironsides is rated for 13 knots, twice the speed of this solar powered vessel.

OK, I know the linked article discussed this point adequately at the end. I just like Old Ironsides.

4. to be sure, it is. However, you need a full crew compliment to sail that vessel
as opposed to one or two people. Just sayin'...
