Letter to President Obama from Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength
Dear Mr. President,

We are writing to urge you to stand firm against those who would put politics ahead of their country.

For the fiscal health of our nation and the well-being of our fellow citizens, we ask that you allow tax cuts on incomes over $1,000,000 to expire at the end of this year as scheduled.

We make this request as loyal citizens who now or in the past earned an income of $1,000,000 per year or more.

We have done very well over the last several years. Now, during our nation’s moment of need, we are eager to do our fair share. We don’t need more tax cuts, and we understand that cutting our taxes will increase the deficit and the debt burden carried by other taxpayers. The country needs to meet its financial obligations in a just and responsible way.

Letting tax cuts for incomes over $1,000,000 expire, is an important step in that direction.

The names of all who signed the etter are displayed at the web site. I only recognize 2 of them who are sponsors of some PBS programs. I've read that there are only 375,000 people in the US who make $1,000,000+ per year so this is only a small number (40 I think)but I respect them for writing the letter. I sure hope he & Congress pay attention to them.

1. Director, musician, techies...
it's interesting to see which fields are represented. Wonder if there are any professional athletes on that list. I don't know how many millionaires there are in this country, but 375,000 doesn't seem nearly high enough. Hmm.

2. No, I didn't say millionaires. I said the # of people who earn
$1,000,ooo per year. I'm ositive there are many more millionaires than 375,000 because even people who earn much less than that per year but were enrollld in a decent 401K program over many years coud easily be millionaires, especially if yu include the value of their home if it was bought many years ago before the nutjobs made the housing industry go nuts! There really arent that many who EARN over a mil. per year.
