Obama and Hillary test the waters and play it safe
Sorry their votes are meaningless.
They weren't cast until the thing had already passed.

was cowardly.

6. Yeah, screw both of them. Not a word how they would vote today.
No clue. Until the goddamn thing was decided.

11. Oh, for ...
f**k's sake. I've heard it all now. 12 Democrats vote nay besides Hillary and Obama, and you've got this brilliant analysis that they were "playing it safe?" It was never even going to be close. Frankly, I think they played it surprising unsafe, for two who have a chance to make it to the general elections, where they will be badgered endlessly for their anti-military, unpatriotic views.

Clearly, there is nothing these two could do that would please you.

I've never seen such nuttiness on this board. Even if the Democrats had sent a bill with another timetable, this war would not have ended. It would have been vetoed. Even if they failed to send a funding bill, Bush would not bring the troops home.

The only thing that is meaningless is the rhetoric that has been flying around lately.

12. Damned if they do, damned if they don't
So voting no wasn't enough because they didn't do it at the right time? What nonsense.

13. If Obama and Hillary
had voted "no" early in the voting there are many here who would be bitching about them grandstanding.

16. so if there was never any doubt....
...then why was it bad for them to announce their votes late? HUH?

Shouldn't the indignation be sent to those who voted yes?

As pointed out above, voting no is going to cause more difficulties in the general election.

Hardly a vote of convenience....

Get real!

17. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't around here!
I'm proud of ALL of the Democrats that took a stand today, and disappointed in the ones that didn't. Whether their detractors want to admit it or not, Hillary and Obama are among the strong Democrats today. If they had made a decision on this a week ago, I'm pretty sure they would still be brutally attacked here for some reason or another. This is what I hate about Democratic primaries.
