Non-torrent download of Wikileaks' Insurance file (Java download)
For those like me who don't want bit-torrent software on my computer. Does require you to have Java installed and provides a link to java.com if it doesn't see it.

http://www.bitlet.org/download?torrent=http://torrents.thepiratebay.org/5723136/WikiLeaks_insurance.5723136.TPB.torrent&referer=http://www.bitlet.org/%3Ftorrent%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Ftorrents.thepiratebay.org%252F5723136%252FWikiLeaks_insurance.5723136.TPB.torrent

In case that link breaks, try http://bit.ly/h62ZNe

1. I don't consider myself technically savvy enough to be useful in this
except to kick it to the top.

3. No tech knowledge needed. It is just a download that bypasses torrents.
Torrents require torrent (peer to peer) software to be installed locally on your computer. I don't trust them, but wrote an email to an internet security guy to ask him if I was being paranoid. In the mean time, this is another way of getting a copy of that file for those who want it. :D

You can't do anything with it as it is locked. Assange (or his people) will release the key to unlock it in the offchance something happens to him or one of his team. Why they named the file 'insurance'. They want as many people as possible to have this as a means of (hopefully) protecting themselves.

5. An interesting idea I was given was to download to a thumbdrive
but again, I'm not savvy on computer forensics nor PGP so I don't feel that I have the skills or knowledge to be of much help in this.

7. No worries. Once they release the key, instructions will be posted in T-3-2-1...
:)

6. The file, I'm guessing is PGP
and the code to unlock it will be a PGP key. Isn't that the only encryption software not yet hacked or given a back door?

8. Kick so people can understand how Assange protects himself.
Sorry it's too late to recommend.

9. If he cares so much about transparency, why is he holding back the best information???
I'm guessing this is all smoke and mirrors.

If he had any good, really horrible information on anyone, he would release it now. Otherwise, he's holding it all blackmail to make himself more and more money, and at the end of everything we'll open up the "insurance" file and it'll just be him giving us all the middle finger with a quote from Machiavelli (sp?) or something.

India???

Million$$$ in funds coming in??
