Wiki leaks - it's like a scanner on the airport of politics
Nothing to hide? then you have nothing to be afraid of :)

Sucks to be on the other end of people airing every secret thing you do and then holding you accountable for it.

You want to have cameras at intersections and on cop cars to scan plates and track what people do and if they have tickets? Want to scan my emails to see if I say something you don't approve of? Wanna search me, my kids, all the way to the point that we are standing naked in front of you so that you can be sure that we are not hiding anything?

Well then, don't bitch when you are exposed. Don't try to hide behind 'telling others our secret conversations could cost lives' when you are already costing lives every day through wars and denying single payer. You think we have not heard that line before and others like 'executive privilege' in order to cover up criminal acts?

Oh, and about those criminal acts - you ignored them and are going after pot smokers and wiki leaks' guy while totally, and blatantly ignoring your buddies who were criminals (well, they are politicians like us, so they deserve a pass....).

You come whining to me about it all when you have the moral high ground to do so.

Right now, you are not even close.

2. Well said..
... the usual band of apologists and attempted rationalizers will show up any minute. They are always at the ready to explain why the government's official position is the only possible reasonable one. And they are wrong.

3. None of it is surprising though.
Berlusconi likes parties, Merkel is a bit thick. US diplomats didn't get Brown or Cameron, but then they also think the UK only had Churchill, Thatcher and Blair as PM anyway. US diplomats are scared of Putin. His pResident is irrelevant.

On this one occasion I wish I had been a gambling man.

24. One thing I noticed missing from the corporate media's prime time news broadcasts last night was
any direct refutation of Bush's claim of Schroder's support to start a war with Iraq.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9642724

A classified document obtained by SPIEGEL shows notes from a meeting between a top German diplomat and Condoleezza Rice just weeks before the Iraq invasion. It indicates steps by the German government to prevent the war and undermines claims in George W. Bush's memoir that Gerhard Schröder indicated he would support the president should the US go to war.

The only thing the corporate media seemed to report during their prime time news broadcasts for American consumption were things that didn't matter to the American People, what our leaders/diplomats' candid or blunt thoughts of other nations' leaders were.

The reporting took the tone of other nations' embarrassments, not so much as that of the U.S.'s embarrassment nor of substantive contradictions between what the American People have been told by their government and the corporate media from that of reality.

I consider Wikileaks to be a "government cavity search". It ain't pleasant, but at least things can't remain hidden.

My sentiments exactly. We need to frame this as the equivalent of us asking the government to go through our version of a "pornoscanner and pat-down."

This is really the best analogy, given the amount of surveillance that we citizens are expected to put up with. "If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear", right? Right???
