That's some sick shit advertising right there. And right wingers wonder why we don't trust corporations.

1. And just think, the rightwing wants to go back to the 50s.
They don't want regulation, they don't want to be bothered with climate change and they don't want to tax the rich.

2. I lived back then and never saw any ads even remotely like
this one. Where did it come from? Looks like a photoshop to me.

5. Even if it's a photoshop, it's not much of a stretch considering
how they used to sell cigarettes as being good for you.

8. Coke did have cocaine in it way back when.
Even doctors back then advised drinking cola for a "pick me up." Know what the 10 2 4 stood for on Dr Pepper bottles?

10. It meant to drink a Dr Pepper at 10:00 am, drink another at 2:00pm, and one at 4:00pm
for energy.

14. Did Dr. Pepper have cocaine, too?
No wonder my grandparents never went to the doctor for their aches and pains.

16. I'm not sure, but they sure had that Dr Pepper Time 10-2-4 thing
It was on the old returnable bottles for a long time. That would be interesting to find out, lol.

17. I'd say that's a photoshop win
:)

But, anyway, only the cola/"soda pop board of America" ad is fake. The seven-up ad is from Ladies Home Journal.

4. Of COURSE they are good for babies - they contain lots of health-giving sugar and caffeine

to perk up that little smiling face and make junior happy and active, plus citric acid from ....citrus!
(Sort of like all those pills he will get in school when he's older!)

I wonder how much of today's advertising is just as much bullshit as this stuff was.

Rec.

7. When I was little, my pediatrician said I could have as many colas
as I wanted. He even suggested my mother put some beer in my milk, then slowly wean it down, to get me to quit licking my lips raw due to what is now known as fetal alcohol syndrome (something like that, or whatever it is called). It worked too, mostly. I did have a stint in my early 20s where I became an alcoholic for several years, but have since recovered using the same method. I weened myself off the stuff.

Doctors used to smoke cigarettes too. If you dig around back in the early to mid 1900s, those people were partying down. Later generations are practically puritans compared to that bunch of party animals, lol.

15. as someone who has burped his sons to many times to remember
the idea of giving a small child something that would even make them burp more is really stupid.
Unless you are handing the kid back to the mom.....
