Let us reduce unemployment

All it takes is a little thought, and a lot of disregard for the little things that Corporate America taught us.

This idea has been with me as a way of life for at least 2 decades.

In our haste as humans, we do the easy things in life.
We are unwilling to spend more time in places due to our hectic schedules.
We routinely do what the corporates want us to do, little things, but it save them money.

I suggest we stop the problem. Here it is, it may be too simple, but in numbers it all adds up.

Do not use self-scan at the stores, it costs someone their job.

Do not clean up after yourself at any fast food restaurant, leave you stuff on the table.
Someone will have to remove it. Enough people doing that more jobs.

Cart return? Forget it! Somebody needs to get them back to the spaces so more can shop.

Report dead animals on the roads. Then they have to clean them up.
Heck, report potholes, cracks, general bad road conditions. Someone has to fix it.

Add your own stuff to "forget" to do. Share with us.

This idea, believe it or not, started with a Republican friend of mine about 20-25 years ago.
I thought he was just a crazy. His demeanor was that "less important people" were our servants.
And that was good.

Let's stick it back to them and try, try to create jobs. It is really the least we can do.

Listen, I tried this at home and my wife wouldn't have it!

Married? OMG!, and I'm an atheist.

Try it anyplace than your home.

Denny's? Haven't been in years, but they were always bad on service.
Not to mention food.

Sounds like a Republican.

There are much better ways to employ people.

Cut off unemployment compensation and the unemployed will commit suicide in droves - thereby reducing unemployment. It's called compassionate conservatism.

Lower unemployment would push wages up, and piss their donors off.

by re-engineering how we do normal tasks. Information Technology created entire new classes of jobs because we re-engineered how we processed information.

Your plan would just create more menial labor jobs which will eventually lead to more unemployment because those workers are not acquiring the skills necessary to stay employed over the long haul.

Now address the present. Something "we" can do to create jobs.

You don't return your cart. You leave your wrappings on the table.

There are at least five to seven people in my neighborhood that would love to make minimum wage.

Better than nothing.

the lowest paid people around? Exactly how many will be fired if your plan was to take off and before employers realize that cleaning up the mess is beyond human endurance for their current amount of low paid employees.

Why not cut out the middle man and take a knife to the throats of minimum wage workers? It will get you to your apparent unstated goal much quicker, and in a more forthright manner.

Corporate has already figured it out, that's why there are cart corrals,
self check-outs, the "Thank You"'s at the exits of fast food places.

This is not to make life more miserable for the working, but to give life to the unemployed.

Yeah it may take some time to figger things out again, but in the meantime...

or just go with the republican plan.. fu*k 'em

Cable company ect... With as many questions as you may have. These types of companies have a que for phone calls and the customer service people have a quota type of system to handle the calls. If everyone is meeting the quota and there is still large volume in the que they generally have to hire more customer service employees to take the calls.

Better yet, why don't you patronize your local small businesses and not support the large corporate world.

When it comes to food on the table cleaning up after slobs,or no money, guess which one wins?

He's 58, same as I am, an automotive engineer, laid off, over qualified for anything else.

I am a small business, I cannot afford to hire any more. Wish I could. Goodness, the cold, dark nights I have
wishing I could.

He is just one example, one that is close. There are many more, on my block, in my neighborhood.

The long term solution to the problem does not or should not include trying to create more service jobs which include no benefits and are at best minimum wage jobs. In the short term, yes, that may help your neighbors, but is not and should never be a long term solution. This country needs to be creating products and not just servicing each other.

My other point was instead of going to McDonalds, go to your local Diner who actually has a vested interest in your community.
