their tepid response to the end of the second segment was very sad

Gore basically said that it's OUR fault for not paying attention, for allowing the FACTS to be swept aside by irrelevant forces. no punchline, and the audience didn't respond

contrast this to his saying almost the same thing on Daily Show, with the audience understanding, and appreciating, everything he said

we're so insulated from the reactions of those who DON'T pay attention (99+% of the rest of the country), that I'mm afraid we set ourselves up for major disappointment when what seems to be the REASONABLE approach to reality never seems to come out on top

20. When Al was teaching a class in NY right after the 2000 election, he
had Dave come speak to the class.

Dave likes Al. When he said "You should run. You're gonna run, right?" at the end of Gore's segment, I think Dave really meant it.
