Is It True? The Troops are Funded in the General Budget, The Supplemental is to Fund the Contractors
Edited on Thu May-24-07 10:51 PM by Wiley50
Halliburton. Blackwater. Bechtel. CACI. Triple Canopy. etc ect

So do the Troops ( though I am so sick of that canard)

get funded in the general budget military appropriations?

or do their welfare (salaries, food, lodging, equipment, ect)

Depend on the supplemental that we just got pwned about?

Anybody Know?

6. Well, the military salaries for the year don't increase by
94.5 billion. The DoD budget for FY2006 was 480billion (or so) for FY2007 it is up to 622billion. Logistically we are not losing a destroyer every month or 5 F-16s. This money is not going to disabled vets either since the Corpse and other services (save the Air Force) are fighting hard to keep as many vets at 20% or less disability. This huge amount in the supplemental is not to replace the 3 B's (bandages, bullets, beans).

If you are looking for annotated notes and references, that would require detailed investigation. Which is why this kind of thing is always shrouded and cloaked in jingoistic canards.

3. I don't think there's any way to know that answer for sure, but
I THINK salaries, lodging etx. is funded by the general military appropriation, but nothing in Iraq. The military that are still here, and stationed around the world were predictable and in the budget, but Shrub & Rummy deliberately kept Iraq off budget so the "new budget #'s" wouldn't look so bad.

I know when the Dems first took over the majority, I read several statements about forcing the war funding to be included in the budget and stop the damn supplementals.

7. I think it's a little too soon in the year to know. The new Budget
hasn't been presented yet, has it? I can't remember, but I seem to think it has to be presented to Congress in September??? The one they just passed was a carryover from last year.

8. Yes. I think it might be through funding the Commander's Emergency Response Program
and other such 'programs' where contractors are hired to 'improve education, health care, electricity, water and security..."

If I have the right bill here, here is what it refers to:

SEC. 1307. (a) From funds made available for oper-
ation and maintenance in this title to the Department of 12
Defense, not to exceed $456,400,000 may be used, not- 13
withstanding any other provision of law, to fund the Com- 14
manders’ Emergency Response Program, for the purpose 15
of enabling military commanders in Iraq and Afghanistan 16
to respond to urgent humanitarian relief and reconstruc- 17
tion requirements within their areas of responsibility by 18
carrying out programs that will immediately assist the 19
Iraqi and Afghan people. 20

9. There is another budget in July and I have kept hearing that
there is already $$ in the 'pipeline' for the troops.
I was trying to find that quote today but was unsuccessful. :(

There is a ton of money going to Iraq and more budget votes in the near future.

10. That seems to be the truth of it...
The funds for the troops has to come out of the defense budget. The money that bush keeps getting is for running the country in Iraq and that is going to the Iraq government and the contractors. The money for the troops is included in the budget...why does he have to continue to keep getting this money and it is not included in the budget...because it is for the Iraq government and the contractors....AND IT COMES BACK TO THE WAR PROFITEERS LIKE CHENEY WITH HIS 3000% INCREASE IN HALLIBURTON STOCK (ER KICK BACKS).
