Poll question: Which vote took more guts today?
For me the answer is pretty obvious, but it looks like some of the No voters are being attacked worse than the Yes voters tonight!

1. The NO voters are being attacked
Because they wouldn't LEAD. They both refused to talk about how they were going to vote today when asked directly.
They had every opportunity to do so and they failed.
In fact, they wouldn't even vote until it was a done deal.
Pandering takes absolutely no guts.

3. AND he stood on the Senate floor and tried to persuade his colleagues
Not to vote on it either.
He was a leader today.

6. If that's the netroots response
Then why in the hell should they give a shit about the netroots??? The ones who did the right thing should be supported, period.

8. Obama and Hillary wouldn't even lead the Senate
How can I trust them to lead our country?

9. It took them longer than some, but the fact remains they did the right thing!

They will be attacked just as brutally by the right wing for their votes regardless of when they made them! I also admire the stance that John Edwards has taken against the war. Many will bash him here because he originally supported it, but the fact remains that he has come around and is now a strong anti-war candidate. Would Edwards get more respect around here if he continued to support the war? Would Obama and Clinton have gotten more respect around here if they had voted Yes or not voted? There are plenty of Democrats who deserve criticism today. The ones who voted No--ALL of them-- are not among them in my opinion.

4. It didn't take guts to vote No, it took a brass set
To capitulate and then give weenie excuses for voting NO -- shameful.

5. It depends on where they were from. A Senator from a Red State
whose constituents almost all supported this war would have had a much more difficult time voting no than a Senator from a Blue State, and vicea versa.

7. What took the most guts?
A NO vote early on, and an announcement prior to the voting that you were voting NO.

Unlike some of our candidates, who kept mum about their vote, and waited until it made no difference at all to vote.

I think that could legitimately be viewed as cowardly. Why would they wait? Their announcement of a NO vote could have influenced others to vote with them, perhaps.

Now we'll never know.

I will say this: I've been trying to keep an open mind about all Dem candidates, because I realize none of them are perfect, but today's events added a few nails to some coffins.

10. What really took some
guts were the senators back in the beginning who voted against this war. Those events that day should have also added a "few nails to some coffins".

11. You are absolutely right.
Very few of them had the guts to stand firm in the face of the pro-war spin.
