Republicans PULL The PLUG, Jobless Help DIES

" At the stroke of midnight last night, some 800,000 workers who have been looking for jobs for more than six months lost their unemployment insurance (UI)—2 million will be without help by the end of December.

Why?

Because congressional Republicans have chosen to side with the nation’s millionaires instead of the jobless.

They chose to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy as their top priority this lame-duck session and essentially have told workers struggling to find work in an economy with five job hunters for every opening: “Tough luck. Happy holidays.”

Before leaving for the Thanksgiving recess, Republicans blocked a move in the U.S. House that would have maintained the extended benefits program through February. On Monday, Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.) introduced legislation to maintain the UI lifeline for a full year. But last night, Republicans used Senate rules to block a vote on the bill.

Earlier Baucus said:

These benefits help millions of Americans put food on the table and roofs over their heads—pumping money into our economy and helping to create jobs. Continuing the program for a year will provide the certainty our economy and these Americans looking for work need.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill) claimed the benefit extension would be “misguided” but the tax cut should be handed over to millionaires “no matter what” the effect on the nation’s budget.

Today on Capitol Hill, about 100 jobless workers from across the nation will lobby for the one-year extension. They will be joined by AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) and other lawmakers.

1. I thought everything was Obama's fault?

At least that's what I hear here, day in day out.

2. The word "Treason" is missing.
Treason, Treasonous, etc., need to be used whenever the Republicans do something like this.

4. The unemployed and all concerned should go Caroling to every repuke home
on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day who stood up and voted against extending UI benefits .They should stand outside their homes in the cold singing as many ' spirit of giving ' carols they can muster while these repukes and their families are tucked away hiding inside happily opening gifts or jamming their wonderful hot Christmas meal down their throats.

This is a disaster for Millions of Americans. It needs to be the Headline story all across the Country until it gets resolved. This illustrates the huge differences between the people that each party is fighting for.

5. And a rare bit of sanity ensues...
over at that other site:

"I’d like to see at least Fox interview our new reps, Boehner, in an explanation how taxcuts for ALL will help new jobs get created. Otherwise, it just looks cruel by our side, even though we all know it’s not. If Fox won’t put a camera in front of our side, no one will."

"So is theft, robbery, burglary... which is exactly what the next step for these folks will be once they lose the last lifeline they have.
There are 6 unemployed people for every one job opening in this country. The math is not there to fix this... once they lose this little bit of money all thats left for them to do is either starve to death or steal food etc...

I agree the debt is out of control, but unemployed in this country did not bankrupt us. You need to look elsewhere to lay that blame."

"Deadbeats will have to go to work."

Response:

"Your arrogance is sickening.

Where shall they go? What jobs? Where?

Its going to be hard to go back to work when there are hardly any jobs to be filled?"

6. It's the GOP's way of saying "Merry Christmas".

While they smirk and wring their hands.

Ebenezer Scrooge was an amateur compared to them.

10. Why is the GOP party trying to balance the budget on the backs of unemployed people?
Who lost their jobs through no fault of their own.
They didn't quit, they were laid off.
