What did Obama and the Dems fight for?
Edited on Sat Dec-04-10 02:12 AM by Skip Intro
What did they go toe to toe with the repukes over?

And as it seems the Democratic leadership of this nation is on its way down, with the repukes only controlling by numbers the House, but effectively controlling the Senate too, and controlling the dialog - why is the main thing the tax cuts? - and Obama and Dems seemingly caving on everything, what was the great fight?

I must have missed it.

1. Health care reform
I remember the several days of live threads as the amendments were voted out of committee. High drama, swearing, fist waving, fun times.

Other stuff too, but some people seem to remember nearly two years of smooth sailing with Republicans wiping the floor with Democrats weekly.

2. I'm sorry, but that was a half-assed fight. We got our asses handed to us on that effort.
Shouldn't have happened.

The defining of the law by the repukes and the rabid idiots at town halls. That should have never have happened. That should have never been allowed to happen.

3. DLC and Third Way Own DNC and Dem Party Leadership - Big Trouble
It is now evident that the DNC and Democratic Party Leadership is wholly owned by DLCers through and through. Opposition to DLC and Third Way proponents have been squashed within the leadership. They have learned from the Howard Dean era as Chairman of DNC that they needed to rid the party of all progressive voices and options in the leadership structure and they have succeeded. We are now seeing the result of their work and IMO that is why the leadership is not hearing any dissenting voices and they are commissioning polls to reinforce their beliefs that rank and file democrats approval of Obama is high when the whole path they are leading the party will ultimately result in disaster. I am afraid I see no hope for the party and its survival if this is not challenged and reversed.

4. Not a thing. Too busy "keeping their powder dry"
to be fighting. It's so much easier for them if they just roll over.

5. Sotomayor and Kagan
And sorry to say, I am glad McCain did not fill those positions.
