Big Ed just made an interesting point...
He said with the 2% cut in payroll taxes, business won't have to give any pay increases this year. I know several people that have not had a raise in almost 3 years because of this economy. Big Ed is probably right on this subject. Even as businesses are sitting on over $2 trillion dollars in profits and revenues.

This is about as Republican as you can get. Eventually we will cut taxes and freeze wages to the point where people cannot survive without their taxcuts. In the process, we will shrink government to the point we can drown it in a bathtub but no one will really care because they get to keep their beloved taxcuts.

Taking note of comments here, we may have already reached that point. It was not enough that they gave you unlimited credit cards so you did not have to ask for a raise. It was not enough that they fixed re-financing mortgages so you could pay off your credit cards and not have to ask your boss for a raise. Now, they will cut your payroll taxes so you don't have to ask for a raise. Who is benefiting from this scheme? Who is going to pay a heavy price when they need their government?

7. "What is a raise?"
What people will be asking in the future.

Wages have been stagnant and corporations continue to rake in record breaking profits, CEO's get their bonuses on top of making hundreds of times more money than the average worker in their company, benefits are cut, pensions slashed, and so on. The future is 'free market' privatized workforce, cut/remove government workers in favor of private for profit businesses, no unions, no worker rights, no livable wages, work your 2+ jobs to make it and own virtually nothing, no house, no car.

11. Look for a proliferation of "independent contractors"
looming on the horizon. Companies will hire IC's instead of employees, thus circumventing taxes, health insurance, etc.
