6. The "deal" just cost him millions of votes.
I have never seen a President make such a career-ending "deal".

How much more obstructionism do you think the Republicans have planned?

10. Every bit as much as they can
Don't think that they're going to give an inch or any thing that would seem like a "break" to Obama or the Dems at all.

Remember, these are not rational, nice get-along-with kind of people. They are ideologues and furthermore, they are mean.

9. I'm calling bullshit on his comment that the GOP "has never supported the EITC"
Um, Lawrence, the EITC was a Republican idea. It originated with Milton Friedman. It's a subsidy to low wage employers from the taxpayers.

17. Given that it was implemented under Reagan
Edited on Tue Dec-07-10 11:09 PM by Hello_Kitty
I'd say it had a lot more to do with Friedman than McGovern.

Edit: My bad, it was expanded under Reagan, adopted under Ford.

11. That is not helping this President.
We need someone who can get a better deal. What he is saying is we have a president who cannot negotiate effectively.

What will O'Donnell et al say when he caves on SS? Because we know that is next on the list. And if he cannot negotiate, this is the best he can do, we can assume he will not get a good 'deal' on SS either. So, after electing a Democratic majority, this is the best that can be done. Logically he is saying having a Dem. majority and a Dem in the WH didn't work.

Obama just added billions to the Deficit. But he will try to tell us that we need to start messing with SS to help fix the deficit!!! Even though he and we know that SS has nothing to do with the deficit. He and we know that the Bush Tax cuts have cost this country trillions of dollars, added to the deficit, over the past ten years.

We knew this when we elected Democrats. They were supposed to start fixing it.

Dems lost this last election because as Pelosi and others have said, they supported this president on 'unpopular' issues against their better judgement. They should not have done that, but they party loyalty trumped the people's needs.

Obama will lose the next election if he doesn't stop with this bi-partisan nonsense and 'compromise' which so far have only benefited the wealthy. Who does he think he's fooling?
