Wikileaks and the thought did cross my mind that we are being watched, especially the reaction to Wikileaks.
But, I am going to do so anyhow. They still claim we live in a democracy. If Julian Assange and others around the world were willing to put themselves in the crossfire in order to finally have some real investigative reporting on ALL governments around the world, then we should not be too afraid to support them.
That is how they will win. But if the support is overwhelming, then they cannot go after millions of people.
What is happening to that news organization is a disgrace. Now we have a chance to stand up with those who are risking an awful, or be cowards and just do nothing.
As someone famous once said, it is not what our enemies do that harm us so much, it is the silence of our friends.
This is a turning point in how the world gets its news, imo. Our government has disgraced itself by reacting the way it is doing. And as another famous person once said, 'when the people are afraid of the government, that is a dictatorship, but when the government is afraid of the people, that is a democracy' or words to that effect.
We are afraid of this government and that alone should tell us that we need to do something about it. The fact that you asked the question, is a terrible sign of what has become of this country. But thanks for asking it anyhow. :-)
