7. Yep, I love that guitar, though I've never played one so I have no idea if it's any good.

16. That's where the Byrds got their sound
They saw Lennon playing that instrument in Hard Day's Night.

According to David Crosby interview I once saw.

22. Thats an unusual guitar because of its short scale length.

Doesn't sound as chromatically bright as a full-scale guitar. The strings have a little dissonance in their sound, the harmony is not exactly perfect. The best example I can think of is that John's 325 is more like the Everly Brothers where as a regular guitar (say, a Stratocaster) would sound more like a perfectly harmonized Barbershop quartet.

Then theres his Les Paul Junior, which is also a unique guitar as was generally considered to be a cheap student's guitar at the time.

6. Shoveling Mounds of Spaghetti in Magical Mystery Tour

Couldn't find a copy to share.

His hair was slicked back and all that jazz.

Serving the large woman shovels full of spaghetti.

Classic.

18. Not just older generation!
I was 14 when it came out, and likely would not have gotten the pun until at least a decade later. (After hearing the line in Fireside Theatre - "It comes in cans in this country" ) It was a more innocent time.

17. My favourites are many - and yes, I am, for this post using the British spelling
Edited on Thu Dec-09-10 11:16 AM by karynnj
remembering the month or so where I was obsessed enough to set my watch on Liverpool time!

I love many of the various Beattle era photos - from the concerts, Hard Days Night to the Sgt Pepper albums.

I find many of his photos with Yoko, especially in the 5 years before his death, where they look so happy. (I never understood how people could call her ugly. In addition, there were so many pictures of a dedicated father, holding the hand of an adorable little boy.

While my favorite is likely something from the "Can't Buy Me Love shots, another that I love just because it exists and maybe because it appeals to two completely separate parts of what I believe in, is this is a special picture.

My google skills failed to find any of the pictures that were from the part of Hard Day's Night, where Can't buy me love was played. In the movie, they escape from the darkness of the TV studio, down a fire escape and run around in patterns on a field. The pictures reflected the happiness, energy and freedom, that the director obviously wanted. Taking a John picture from that would be one that reminds me of how Beatles music made me feel back at that point as a 14 year old. (Ironically, their lives were likely more the studio they are seen escaping from.

People can say what they like about Trudeau, but he shared Lennon's greatest qualities - empathy, intellect and compassion. imo.
