Queens NY Woman Alleges Abuse Over Non-Dog-Poop Scooping
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/08/ann-stanczyk-claims-nypd-_n_794103.html

Stanczyk, a married housewife from Rockaway Beach, was walking her terrier, Psotka - Polish for "prankster" - when she wound up in a confrontation with two uniformed officers from the 100th Precinct, Shaun Grossweiler and Richard DeMartino.
"They saw my dog and they said I didn't clean up," said Stanczyk, fighting back tears as she spoke in halting English. "I said, 'No, she only pee.' They, of course, not agree with me and I say, 'Show me. Where is it?'"

1. sigh....
Another case of "I wasn't doing anything wrong and then the cops beat me up and threw me in the back of the patrol car".

Which isn't to say that the incident...at least the arrest part... didn't happen.

and perhaps she really does have injuries...the full article I found elsewhere says there are photos.

But she admits to having used her feet to keep from being closed up in the back of the cruiser. How does anyone know whether she sustained some injuries from her struggles?

Also, and I've seen this happen...a few perpetrators, not knowing/caring that they were being filmed, have gone so far as to bang their own faces on the trunk or hood of the cruisers, or even on the windows inside. I've seen drunks fall face-first on the pavement. I've seen drunks fall face-first against police station walls. With no help from anyone else.

Without video evidence, they probably could have gotten away with claiming they had been assaulted by cops.

I'll admit there are some bad cops out there, but not every story about someone being beaten for no reason is true.

As far as the accusations about dog poop go, I've had the same thing happen myself. I had a little Chihuahua one time I used to walk around the neighborhood. One day the owner of a liquor store comes bounding out to confront me about a bunch of dog poo on the tree belt outside the store. I stood there and looked at piles of dogshit, some of which were bigger than my damned dog, and I told the guy so. Didn't matter. He was going to verbally abuse the first person with a dog who walked by.

Anyway, for that, I waited a few months, and one day when the store was closed, I walked by with my little Chihuahua who decided he HAD to take a dump on the step-up into the store.

There ya go, fucker!!! THAT'S what a Chihuahua poo looks like!!!!

2. All groups suffer this
A few folks ruin it for the rest.
My favorite trail, I walk everyday, is used by tens if not hundreds of dogs. Some scoop some don't. I pick it up, grocery bags full sometimes, cause it ruins my day to see it. Once I get it fairly clean it stays clean for awhile.
There are bad hunters, bad fishermen, bad pet owners, bad parents, bad drivers and there are many good ones too. How do we live together in a civilized society?

5. I dunno...
I try to do what's right and stay out of the way of others. I don't litter...don't double park...hold the door open for others...say "Please" and "Thank you"....never go through the 15 Items or Less line with more than 15 items...

A whole bunch of things.

I don't want to make myself out to be a victim, but geez...it sometimes feels like I'm flypaper for freaks and a magnet for assholes.

I suppose there isn't any good way for us all to live in a civilized society as long as there are people who don't even make a hint of an effort to be polite.

10. I agree pipi
it is all I can do to survive the assholes that surround me at times. It has reduced me to withdrawal from as much of society as I can.

But I still hold the ideal that the majority are ok, despite all the evidence otherwise.

3. So, do you suppose your little dog's deposit changed that
person's attitude? Somehow, I imagine it made the whole thing worse. I'm pretty sure you failed.

4. It wasn't about changing his attitude
He decided to jump on the first person he saw with a dog on a leash...a female, no less...to bitch about dogshit on the tree belt.

When I pointed out to him that there were probably twenty neighborhood dogs running loose shitting on his precious treebelt, he said he didn't care. Would he have gone off like that with another man? Who knows... I'm not going to speculate on that.

So...was it about changing his attitude? No. And I'll admit it. It was about saying "Fuck you, asshole" to him without possibly being assaulted by someone who clearly wasn't thinking with more than two brain cells.

All that fucker had to do was ask me nicely to clean up whatever poo pile my little dog had made on the treebelt. I would have done it gladly.

I don't take kindly to being verbally assaulted by assholes who can't direct their anger at the real source of their irritation...which, that day, wasn't one little pile of Chihuahua shit. It was twenty other piles of shit made by OBVIOUSLY bigger dogs.

As for "being pretty sure" I failed, think what you want. You weren't there.

6. I know why you did it. That was pretty clear.
I'm just saying that what you did does not make things better. On the contrary, it probably angered this already-angry person even further. To deliberately have your dog crap on the business's steps was nothing more than further provocation. While it may have given you a moment of revengeful satisfaction, it probably made matters worse for the next person to walk by with a dog.

Revenge is not usually an effective technique. I'd encourage you to take another path on your walks.
