3. I'm still trying to get through to mine. I have no idea where they stand on this,
so I'd also like to ask about that.

Thanks for doing that, nad! I remember Boxer was one of the very few who showed up to help Dodd in 2008 (I forget what the issue was). Do you know where Boxer and Feinstein stand on this? It's a tough one because of those will lose their Unemployment and those who can't afford the increase in taxes. But I think in the long run we will ALL lose if this is allowed to pass.

4. Jesus age, just talked to the staff for Feinstein
Edited on Fri Dec-10-10 01:58 PM by nadinbrzezinski
in San Diego... no, getting through to DC is like impossible or their LA office.

I am not kidding me..."I am calling to urge the Senator to urge the Filibuster by Senator Bernie Sanders!"

Staffer: "WHAT Filibuster?"

Me: On tax bill, you know C-SPAN is running it.

And for the record I don't have access to the span on my TV... long story.

I mean SHE works for a US Senator... you'd think she'd be a little more aware!

6. Just called Kay Hagan's office - gave them my long two cents worth -
they were polite, took the message - pleaded that Hagan give Bernie her support - asked if they were busy getting calls, and they said that they were.

North Carolinians - call this number- 202-224-6342.

i told him i voted for Hagan in 2008, that i wanted her to support Bernie Sanders in any and every way possible, and that we. are. watching! He was very polite and said he would relay my message. Everyone should call - let them know we are paying close attention to this!

8. It is safe to say that the dynamics in DC
have been changed.... and only time will tell if for the better... I sure hope so.

As I said in a now long thread... there is something major happening here and a confluence of events. This is but one of them.

18. Reached Cantwell's DC office!
Asked staffer to pass along msg to stand with Bernie in his filibuster and vote No on this tax cut deal. Then asked if phone calls are supporting Bernie and a No vote and she said Yes! Every call she's taken has been in support.

Gotta get back to Murray's numbers.

Keep calling!

20. Spoke to Boxer's office
I asked is she would be joining Bernie in his filibuster. She said she has not issued a statement on that yet. I asked if she has been getting many calls about it. She said 'we've had a few, yes'. I got right through so maybe they need more.

25. It was an interesting call.
I asked why Senator Sanders had to talk to filabuster while the Republicans never did.

She had to put me on hold to get the answer, so perhaps she couldn't fully and accurately explain it - but what she said basically was that the filabuster rules were changed in the 90s and didn't require keeping the floor, but that Senator Sanders was doing it 'old school' to make a point.

The woman I spoke to, who was very nice btw, clearly wanted to express her personal opinion on how the Republicans have been taking gross advantage of the rule change, but kept having to stop herself to say she wasn't permitted to give personal opinion.

I told her I'd like my Senator (Murray) to stand with Bernie Sanders and also asked where the Senator stood on the issue. She said Senator Murray hadn't expressed her decision yet and that calling was a good thing at this point.

So - I think people should be calling their Democratic Senators and making sure they know a huge majority is against extending Bush Tax Cuts for the upper 2%.
