Bernie Sanders, YES, President Obama, Not So Much

Bernie Sanders filibuster just says no to unemployment extensions and all the other tax proposals. "No" doesn't get us anywhere.

The Bush years are a testament to that.

Some are still desperately extolling the values of being urinated on.

Then the middle class tax cut.

The tax cuts for the rich are what you suffer through to get all the good stuff.

increasing our national debt.

It does nothing to create jobs, the corporations have record profit but
aren't adding jobs.

Unemployment extensions and the expensing of capital purchases to contain the debt? Hey I think that helps my situation better in the long run but I was feeling really bad for the unemployed. But I guess some think that is an okay thing to do.

on those with incomes under $20-40K (single/family)?

Including the "poison pill" FICA tax holiday aimed at killing SS?

Including the lowering of estate taxes (after a holiday of zero ET)?

Helluva bargain for 13 months of UI that doesn't cover the long-term unemployed.

I'll do my part but I'm not as efficient as they are.

And while tax cuts aren't very efficient they still contribute somewhat to growth in a consumption economy.

No, they aren't getting the top cuts, they will be benefiting most from the payroll tax cut as will I.

And yes, the growing of the deficit sucks, but since we need the growth it is what it is.

Give the angry masses a couple of stale candy bars and tell them to shaddup.

Its not like these tax cuts are free.

and what Obama is now doing - decreasing tax cuts for the wealthy - who have not suffered, actually, they probably grew more prosperous - while decreasing social programs. They are not paying their share, and we need their money to decrease the deficit and stimulate the economy. The government, through various NEEDED programs, services, research and development, contracts, etc. DOES create jobs (or should).

I also don't think paying 2% less into Social Security is really helping - in the end, it will also help the repuke cause of undermining that safety net program, which they absolutely despise.

In the end, the extended unemployed do win, but I wonder how many of them voted repuke? Anyway, it's a sweet deal for the repugs.

The proposed cut is from a rate of 6.2% to 4.2%. It may never be reinstated; it's the poison pill for SS.
