This hate-mongering monster fed on fear and ignorance. I never let the opportunity pass to hand anyone who defends him an earful of these very words. A few are taken aback, but sadly there are many who deny he ever said these things, or go the tried and true 'out of context' route.

I just saw a quick snippet of Hamnity on what I'm guessing was an Old Time Gospel Hour tribute show, saying that it's hard for good people to believe that true evil exists. I saved my TV yet again by turning it off with something besides an angry hurl out of the nearest window: the off button.

Trust me Sean, we believe. It was sitting behind you, smiling the smug, self-satisfied smile of the conman, knowing that anything he sells will be bought and that the scam has worked like a charm. Women, the poor, minorities, gays, or anyone who questioned him were the enemy.

(yeah, I know all too familiar. meh heh.)

I will forever cherish the idea that I was on his list of enemies, for choosing to know and love people for who they are and how they love and live, instead of finding ways to make them objects of hate, derision and oppression.

but Falwell did admit his errors in regards to civil rights. He surely was totally in the wrong but in fairness he did repent in regards to that.
