Note that this post was made after the day's festivities had ended and everything was in proper perspective. I would never think to blame anybody for being afraid of anything. If it panics you, it is real, and no amount of DU poo-poohing will ease that.

Having said that, you are indeed correct, this was finally a media event. A media company enabled it via a birdbrained publicity stunt, and our local media certainly milked it alllllll daaaaayyyy looooong. 2, no 4, no 7, no 10 "devices'!!

Turner was not early enough forthcoming in its information about the stunt, and our media (and possibly local government) did not give the 'all-clear' when they could have. And should have.

who had the foresight to protect us from Lite-Brite. Who knows what tragedies could have arisen? Someone could have mistaken it for our pResident which might have caused them to freak out and lose control of their car and foster a deadly accident. Can't have that!
