This 3-Tour Viet Nam Vet Wants You To Remember Bush Deserted From The National Guard
"I Will Never forget" that while I and hundreds of thousands of others served against an armed enemy that he, a drunken coward, deserted.

4. Oh, come on!
He wasn't just a drunk. He was a coke head, too, back in those days. While honorable, brave vets like yourself were serving their country, he was trying his damnedest to avoid having to do anything where he might suffer a scratch!

Believe me, when I see Bush, that is ALL I think of. How a coward like him could be placed in a position to send our men and women to war just pisses me off. To see him gloat over the spilled blood of American soldiers is despicable!

And, you noticed I did not say "young" men and women. That's because we have many soldiers in their fifties serving in Iraq.
I am currently sending stuff and trading e-mails with a 56 yr old lady stationed in Balad, Iraq. She was in the Guard here in the states and was called up. While Balad is more of a support group unit, they are still over there in the 115 degree heat without the personal hygene items we take for granted.

42. I too am a Viet Nam vet
But what gets my goat more than anything is why our dem reps. will not make this information know to the freepers. All they have to do is hammer it daily and nightly that "BUSH JR. IS A LYING DESERTER FROM THE NATIONAL GUARD, THAT WAS A DRUNKEN POT SMOKING, COKE USING SPOILED BRAT".

5. I never have understood why this never got traction-
I served in that same TANG unit that he was in and I "transferred" to an out of state unit and back just as he was supposed to do. What is different is my DD-214 clearly shows an honorable discharge from the Texas unit-enrolling in the out of state unit - honorable discharge from the out of state unit and re-enrolling in the Texas unit and final honorable discharge with commitment met.

I don't think his shows squat. He went AWOL and then deserted. His punishment - pretend to make up a few drills an be early discharged. A total waste of all that flight training which he never should have had. What a waste of a human being.

My son like many active military people supported this mockery of a man. I don't usually talk politics with him but a couple of years ago he took a position with an Alabama ANG unit and wondered it that was the same unit that the pretender in Chief was supposed to have drilled with. my son was clueless about the whole story. I filled him in as best I could without vitriol.

34. Who said he completed flight training?
I've posited this question many times and have never received a satisfactory answer. Bush has never, ever struck me as having the special "it" to climb into a Century series aircraft - much less any aircraft - and take it from the runway environment and into the ether.

I say his training records were pencil whipped, those useless photographs were posed and even his conversions to the FAA licenses are somewhat suspect. Someone prove me wrong.

23. I don't usually consider myself a Veteran...
...even after serving in the Air Force for 8 years. The simple fact is, I was stationed in D.C. and it was more like a job with a uniform. Don't get me wrong, I am proud of the work we did especially taking care of those retired enlisted military members.

I will never forget their stories, their tears and their smiles. I will never forget!

Bush reminds me of those foreign leaders who wear uniforms and aren't or never were in the military of their country. And now we have a war czar...what the hell is that about? Now Bush is AWOL from the office he was selected to hold.

Bashing the military? Oh please. You want to hammer on the corpses of Kennedy, LBJ, or Nixon over it, go right ahead. McNamara? Sure. Westmoreland? Absolutely. Kissinger? Can't think of anyone more deserving. But to give shit to a rank-and-file soldier that went and served with honor 40 years ago? That is utterly disgraceful, and plays into every stereotype that the RWers have about Democrats.

...just solely in order to assuage cold-war paranoia. There is, however, honor in refusing to do so. You want me to focus on corpses, huh? Well, there are a lot more of them than what you mention, at least 2 million Vietnamese killed off by ThomWV and his buddies. I'll think about these instead.

41. I can attest to the fact that there were a lot of AWOLs
in the various branches of the military. I know this because I was one of them.
After a 4 year tour in the Navy, I enlisted in the Air Force. This was early 60s. After a year plus of school at Keesler AFB, I was assigned to a radar site in North Dakota. I immediately found myself in conflict with and becoming the whipping boy for a SMSgt that didn't like military retreads in general and me in particular. I tried to "suck it up" but it was an intolerable situation as I quickly found that pissing off a Senior NCO on a small site made life quite miserable as there is no place to hide and no one to take your side. The whole sad story is too long to go into depth but I made a decision that for my long term freedom and the E-8s short and long term health I would remove myself from the situation.
I paid a serious penalty for that decision, ending my AWOL the only airman in the Fort Bliss Center Stockade (Army). Court-martialed and given a BCD plus confinement and forfeiture. Not having a father who was a congressman, head of RNC, Ambassador, Vice-president I paid the full price for what I did as there were no family friends to scrub my records.
I make no apology for what I did, as had I not, I believe that a certain SMSgt would have suffered the only fragging in North Dakota.

56. To all who did serve
with honor and valor, from the bottom of my heart thank you. You will not be forgot by the real patriots who love, honor and respect our nation and the brave men and women who answered the call of duty with something more than - "Gee, I'm busy, could I get back to you."

Bush and Cheney et. all. should hold their manhood cheep, if they can even find it. I know I hold them in nothing but loathing.

57. I carry a sign to remind everyone of that fact to demonstrations
I carry a large sign to every peace demonstration I attend. Bushies tend to turn a liverish shade of purple when they read it: "SUPPORT THE TROOPS - impeach the CHICKEN HAWK IN CHIEF". I take joy in watching their reaction and listening to their sputtering rage - the truth hurts.

58. ways to avoid Vietnam service
1) Go to Canada (England or outside US)
2) Only male child to bear the family name or sole surviving son
3) Homosexual
4) Married with children
5) In school (High School or College)
6) Felon or Prison inmate
7) National Guard - requires political connections

Just think how different our county would be now if our President had seen combat, other than drunken bar fights?

Vote for Veterans! Selfless service then, selfless service now?

65. I wouldn't want
nitwits like Bush and Cheney watching my back under fire. Cheney shot a guy in the face mistaking him for a quail. They are the kind of guys who get other guys killed. Just look at the record.

70. A Cornerstone of the DC/Euphemedia Evasion of Reality
Right up there with "what stolen elections?," and "mushroom clouds on the way," and "impeachment would divide the nation."

Milquetoast Mantras.

71. This list is not complete
But it gives a good overview of how willing our super-patriotic
Republican counterparts were to serve in the military as opposed
as to Democrats.

The Republicans missed their calling: they should have represented
the United States in the Olympics as sprinters, so many of them ran
so fast from serving in the military they now so proudly glorify from
their wood-paneled offices.
