The Hill: Sessions: Time to draw down troops is coming
Nice to see the Republicans continuing to be the good guys on getting our troops home. Opposite Day continues.

From The Hill

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), a loyal supporter of President Bush, indicated Sunday that Republicans will be ready by September to look at bipartisan efforts to draw down the troops that were part of the surge to help secure Baghdad.

<snip>
“I don’t think we need to be an occupying power,” said Sessions, who hopes that bipartisan solutions can be found on Iraq. “This is a fine line we’ve walked, and this surge has got to be temporary.”

Sessions added that he believes Bush is “coming around” to his line of thinking.

“We cannot sustain this level, in my opinion, in Iraq and Afghanistan much longer,” said Sessions, adding that the U.S. is “facing some tough choices.”

Our Democratic Strategy is WHAT again?

2. are they blowing smoke up our asses or stealing the Dems plan?
every plan they have takes 3-6 months from today to see results. Is this BS or are they going to take the Dems' plan in time for the next election?

4. My thoughts on this:
They know they have to establish a timetable to get out before the next election cycle.

If they are going to be forced to do it because of popular opinion, they are going to damn well take credit for it.

The Democrats are going to let them "share bipartisan credit" for it - because they want out of Iraq and they need to look like they have had a hand in bringing it about before the next election - so they will do whatever the repbublicans want to get things started.

End of story.
